Some people are interested to get a deeper understanding of the concept and learn why it doesn’t have a specific definition.…
On the work, the boy’s ears are distorted, expressing the impossibility of closing them now and not listening to the lies he is immersed in. By using blue and yellow dividing lines in the background it separates the boy from the two official behind him giving orders and leading him.…
This painting was inspired by a restaurant on New York’s Greenwich Avenue where two streets meet, the painting depicts an all-night diner in which three customers, all lost in their own thoughts, have congregated. Hopper’s understanding of the expressive possibilities of light playing on simplified shapes gives the painting its beauty.…
As King attempts his pass of many stylistic ideas to his reader, they, the receiver catches the ideas and runs with it with wild imagination. King uses imagery in his passage to personalize this essay and give the reader another perspective to look at it from. He uses the little girl form Birmingham, who cares for six children and the little boy from Harlem who lives in a vermin-infested apartment with junkies and strange, dark figures rambling about, to awaken the reader's emotion and give them the image in their mind.…
The last chaper in the book is doesent have a crazy ending with plot twist and turns or anything that shocks you as a reader. It is a boring ending where Carol just decides to get married and have kids, Sinclair shows how she didn’t really wanted to move back but it was the best choice for her. Early in the book Sinclair describes carrol as someone who has a creative mind and bright ideas wanting to come to a town and bring the town more creativlity and new ideas on social issues as well. This town seems to be very consetative and if anyone who thought different was an outcast, for example Miles Bjorstam in the story. He was a socialist and a democratic which were probably very different views from what the majority of the citzens in that…

From the start the narrator felt threatened by the boy from what she believed he was capable to do based on the color of his skin. She then turns…
In my opinion, the artist, Robert Henri, did successfully make his point. I believe the artist did an excellent job in portraying the boy as an adult, and successfully portray the fear made by the boy about growing up. I really couldn’t paint a better picture to show how a little boy can look like an adult and be scared to grow up. The blazer, and shirt did an amazing job portraying the artists motive, and so did the dark, gloomy…
There is a great deal of color symbolization within “The Great Gatsby,” and Daisy’s clothes are just one example of symbolically important color. In the beginning of the novel, Daisy is always dressed in white, which is a representation of her innocence and purity. Through Gatsby’s eyes, Daisy is void of any imperfections, and much like an angel, she glows white in his eyes. Fitzgerald uses this color to conceal Daisy’s corruption and selfishness that are later revealed in the book. When Daisy’s impurities are shown, her clothes change from white to a golden yellow.…

Britney Moncada Mrs. Schulman English Honors 11 November 3, 2012 The Great Gatsby Jay Gatsby from the 1920’s novel The Great Gatsby was many things. He was smart, brave, and of course great. However, in the story when he is murdered no one attends his funeral, but his father and only friend Nick. The reason no one shows up is because Jay was great for his accomplishments, not his character. Although he was called the “great” gatsby, he didn’t fit the full description. He wasn’t great for saving children from a burning building, donating money, or helping the poor. He was viewed as great for the things benefited other or his own unwonted accomplishments. He didn’t always have an easy life, but somehow still managed to end up on top for the most part. For example, Gatsby grew up in a very poor family. He wasn’t born into money or had wealthy family members. However, that didn’t stop him from becoming successful. Although he dropped out of college he still landed in a pile of gold. He managed to get hired to multi million dollar company and turn himself into a millionaire. Due to his wealth, people were always in his presence. Once he died, the care people had for him vanished along with his money. There was no need for them to attend his funeral if it wasn’t going to benefit them. Second, Gatsby was able to steal the love of his life, Daisy back after several years. At one point in time daisy and Gatsby were a thing, but it didn’t go as planned. She ended up marrying another…

Many people claim that The Great Gatsby is the quintessential American novel. This is due to the reoccurring theme of the book of the rise and fall of the American dream. The book is very significant because of its relation to the time period in which it was written and the actual events that were taking place in the world in and around the 1920's. This period was called the "Roaring 20's" because of the economy at the time was through the roof and people were taking advantage of the overall wealth, both independently and as a whole. (Gevaert, 2) New York City was a symbol of what America has become in the 1920's: a place where anything goes, where money is made and bootleggers flourish. In the 1920's money was very abundant, also known as the "Golden Age." (Taylor) People were very materialistic at this time and this is evident in the book for the Gatsby's and the Buchanans were always trying to impress people rather than being themselves. Gatsby's use of the wealth and the way he sees it as being…
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald takes place in the 1920s, otherwise known as the Roaring 20s, or the Jazz Age. The antagonist, Nick Carroway, moves next to Jay Gatsby, a wealthy “old money” class man. Nick moved to West Eggs, a middle-upper class town bordering East Egg. Nick and Gatsby are frequent partygoers, especially to Gatsby’s owned parties. The basic premise is that Gatsby is after Daisy, Nick’s cousin. In this novel, Fitzgerald portrays the new money class as having a bad reputation.…
