The Ryan White Story was about Ryan White who was a native of Kokomo, Indiana. He was born with Hemophilia, which is a genetic blood clotting disorder. He was diagnosed shortly after birth, due to excessive continuous bleeding after receiving a circumcision. His treatments consisted of blood transfusions from non-hemophiliacs, which was how his disorder was treated back then. After becoming sick with pneumonia years later, his mother took him to the hospital where he had lung surgery and was diagnosed with AIDS. Ryan’s mother, Jeanne White, went to his school and informed the principal and the superintendent of Ryan’s condition. Both would not allow Ryan to come back to school because of his illness and the lack of knowledge of his illness. Once the town found out that Ryan was diagnosed with AIDS the parents and neighbors were very disturbed and would not allow their children to attend school if Ryan was able to attend. The parents of the school started a petition and a case was opened in court. The mother received a defense attorney to help her fight the petition against her son. In the end, Ryan was able to receive his rights back to go to school after having a temporary restraining order
