The Scarlet Letter Hester Prynne Character Analysis
In the Scarlet Letter Hester Prynne is the protagonist. She is a young woman condemned for adultery and required to wear a letter "A" on every piece of clothing she owns. She refuses to reveal the identity of Pearl's daughter.
Pearl is the daughter Hester gives birth to. Ever since birth she has recognized her mother for the scarlet letter she bears on her bosom. Everyone says she is the Scarlet Letter itself and was sent by the devil. Pearl is very energetic and sometimes malicious.
Mr. Chillingsworth is an antagonist.He was Hester's husband and seeks revenge on Pearl's father. Hester and him agree that if he does not harm him she will not reveal that he is her husband.
Mr. Dimmesdale is the town's minister. While asleep Mr. Chillingsworth
