While lady Marguerite and her husband Sir Percy suffered through many marriage conflicts an internal conflict arose. Lady Marguerite had to choose between her brother or the Scarlet Pimpernel. Lady Marguerite and Sir Percy were faced with an external conflict. It began when, unintentionally Lady Marguerite had turned in a French Aristocrat family the Marquis De St Cyr family. This family, physically abused Marguerite’s brother, Armand, for having a relationship with their daughter. Marguerite was telling over this scandalous gossip and it traveled to the government unfortunately. Therefore, Marguerite was disgusted and undeserving of any information in her husband’s eyes. Sir Percy couldn’t believe his wife could do such an awful doing. To turn in an innocent family? Sir Percy stopped talking to his wife and grew apart from her. Marguerite then felt lonely and empty and began to treat Sir Percy with no respect and to mock him in public.
