The Problems Of School

School is boring. It is absolutely pointless. These are just a few of the negative thing children are saying about school nowadays. School can teach you things about the real world but the only way you really will learn is by making choices and mistakes in the real world. It may help you make those choices and learn from those mistakes but hey, if your parents raise you right you'll be fine. In fact, your parents probably have had to deal with some of the problems you face in life, and what a better way to figure them out than hearing about what someone else you trust did! The thing is, smart and bright kids just aren't challenged in public schools anymore. Plus, half of the teachers don't even try to make school fun or interesting! Yes, if you want your kid challenged more you could send them to a private school. But, is it necessary to pay extra money? I would like all parents and kids out there to ask themselves one question: How do we change public schools to make them more fun and exciting and a bit more like real life? Think about this question. Think about the public schools in your community and compare them with the schools described here. Parents: next time you vote for the budget, think about what cutting it could do to your public schools. Remember that your choices can make a difference in your children's lives. Hackers typically follow a five-step approach to seek out and destroy targeted hosts. The first step in performing an attack is to plan the attack by identifying the target and learning as much as possible about it. Hackers usually perform an initial reconnaissance and probing scan to identify IP hosts, open ports, and services enabled on servers and workstations. In this lab, you planned an attack on 172.30.0.0/24 where the VM server farm resides, and used the Zenmap GUI to perform an “Intense Scan” on the targeted IP subnetwork.…

The social, economic, and cultural differences between the New England and Southern colonies are a direct result of the characteristics and motivations of the settlers themselves. The geography and topography did not have an immense effect on the differences between the two colonies. The Massachusetts Bay Colony and Plymouth Colony alike were both founded on the pillars of religion. On the contrary, joint stock companies like the Virginia Company traveled in search of wealth in the form of Tobacco. The geography and topography did not have an immense effect on the differences between the two colonies. These two formulated ideas are the basis for what prompted the differences between the North and South of Colonial…

Reading the article, Thriving at School, was incredibly inspirational as a future teacher. I have heard amazing faith stories of teachers who would stay after school and pray for every student by walking past their locker. There have been teachers who pray for every student on their rosters. What a great way to reflect on the day that you have had or prepare for the day to come. Terri Trepanier states that, “Praying is the only thing I know to do to maintain my sanity and prepare myself to stand firm for this demanding calling.”…

“Stupid Schools” makes a few interesting points, public schools are segregated, many high school students can’t read at an appropriate level, how public schools have plenty of money, and how competition should be a part of the education system, I think these points are valid and are area’s schools should focus on. Throughout my high school career I’ve had exposure to all three of these points and have seen first hand the truth to them. If each individual school focused on just these three aspects, education could begin its reform school by school.…

All throughout my educational career I had never taken the time to reflect on what school really meant to me and if school was made optional would I still attend? After reading the essay “Against School,” by John Taylor Gatto a series of questions began to arise in my head. Is school really that necessary? Is it really the only way for a person to be successful in life? According to John Taylor Gatto schools are nothing but merely “laboratories of experimentation on young minds, drill centers for the habits and attitudes that corporate society demands (38).” After reading Gatto’s essay I must say I agree. The educational school system in the U.S…

There are many things wrong with the current public school system, specifically the secondary schools. The destructive environment of the secondary school system is turning young adults away from academics. Progress is quivering as trivial social matters in the high school arena rear their ugly heads. This system needs to be updated. It needs to be changed to fit the modern world, changed to allow the United States to start making positive progress in academic excellence once…

Q: In the early 20th Century, Professor Edwin Corwin referred to the U.S. Constitution as an "invitation to struggle," which emphasizes the built-in conflicts between the executive and legislative branches as they check-and-balance one another. In the late 19th century, Congress was the dominant institution. In the 20th century, through a Great Depression, two world wars, the Cold War and 9/11, the Presidency was in the dominant institution. Think about this relationship as you study Chapters 13 and 14, then write a brief essay in which you make a case for one of three scenarios -- (1) a balanced relationship, (2) a dominant presidency, or (3) a dominant congress. Which do you find preferable, in general? Why? What are the advantages and disadvantages of your choice? Explain your answer clearly and in detail and offer examples to help your argument.…

When students attend school each day, they are required to attend certain courses in order to graduate high school. Due to the fact that these classes have already been chosen for the students, they are discouraged from any type of individuality because the classes have no correlation to their personal interests. Source E states how ineffective the public schooling system is because it strips students of any type of individuality or creativity, making it completely conformed to the standards of the district: “It is a rare child who can come through his schooling with much left of his curiosity, his independence or his sense of his own dignity, competence and worth.” If public schools were to alter their standards to fit the personal interests of the students, the interest in school would increase dramatically. Source F shows a photo of a group of young children singing in a choir class. In my school, like many others, choir is given to students as an elective. While this class is available to take, many students do not have the opportunity to take it because they are too concerned about meeting district requirements in order to graduate. If schools were more open to individuality rather than conformity, not only would the interest in school increase, but the effort would increase as well, leading to a more positive outcome. With improved grades and positive attitudes, students would be in the process of preparing themselves for what the real world has to offer.…

    Why I Like School

Have you ever wondered what the point of school is? I like school because you learn new things, make friends, and learn how to behave properly. To start, I like learning new things because it can help you get the job you want. Next, school can help you make new friends because you see them almost everyday. Along with that, the extra curricular programs can assist you in meeting new friends who have the same interests and hobbies as you. Finally, behaving well as an adult is important. In school, you learn how to act around different situations. If you make a behavioral mistake while in school, you will be told it is wrong and may be punished. If you don’t act accordingly as an adult, you can lose your job, be fined, or get…
