How do humans make difficult decisions?
Humans make difficult decisions in multiple ways, depending on the situation one might rush to make a decision, or if they have time ponder it for a longer time. “‘And if I’m caught?’ ‘If you get caught, I pay fifty-four bucks out of my own pocket — no loss to you, except maybe the loss of life — but that’s a real long shot’...... ‘Listen; if you actually go in there, you’ll be going in as just some guy — but you come out as a legend: the one kid ever to penetrate Brooklyn’s last great mystery.’ That hooked him. ‘People remember legend, don’t they?’ ‘Always’ The Schwa nodded. ‘Okay then. Crawley’s house and steal a dog bowl. The Schwa was unsure at first but Antsy persuaded the Schwa to do it, for fame and a long lived glory. The Schwa made this decision for fame and self reward, which show that humanity’s decisions revolve around fame, glory, and self reward without think much about consequences, which Antsy and the Schwa paid for. “For a few second... well, maybe more then just a few seconds, I really wished the Schwa would disappear. Later I’d feel real guilty about that,” (Shusterman, Page 132). Antsy wished for the disappearance of his best friend, out of pure anger. This anger will turn into regret because it would almost make the Schwa disappear like his mom. “Manny Bullpucky gets his sorry butt hurled of the Marine Park Bridge.” (Shusterman Page 1). Form the first word of the book the reader can tell that this author is a comedian, that take darker stuff and makes it funny. It’s not funny if someone is thrown off a bridge, but the author makes it seem like a funny topic. This shows how the author is going to try to make everything as comedic as possible and make the readers experience enjoyable. “Life is like a bad haircut. At first it looks awful, then you kind of get use to it, and before you know it, it grows out and you gotta get another haircut that maybe won’t be so bad, unless of course you keep going to SuperClip, where the hairstylist are so terrible that they oughta be using safety scissors, and when they’re don you look like your head got caught in a ceiling fan.
