Abigail runs up to me asking what happened along with a big group of students. I felt overwhelmed and dizzy, out of nowhere i fainted and fell to the ground. About an hour later I woke up in the nurse’s office. “You had a panic attack and passed out, you are stable now” said the nurse. Whoof I feel good now, now i have to get to geometry and keep myself out of trouble. A few minutes later I walk into class and every single head turned and looked at me. All seats were taken except one. And the one that was empty was beside Cloe Jackson’s seat. She gives me a evil death stare as if she’s trying to frighten me. I walk to my seat and suddenly someone put their leg out, tripped me, and all of my books fell. I put my phone on the desk beside Cloe, I bend down to pick up my books and papers then i notice that my phone is no longer on the desk. “Where is my phone Cloe?” i said. “Now why are you asking me, you probably dropped it along with your book, you cluts.” she responded. I give her hard stare and read her mind, she took my phone and has it in her pocket, she's thinking in her mind that she is going to send out the singing video I have in my phone. She must have looked through it. *bell rings* I still do not have my

32 “Well its actually happening ma’, I’m goin’ back to school.”Rufus said. “I want you to know, I truly am proud of you Rufus.” His mother replied. Curtis and Janet went to a different school then Rufus but he still walked them to school then walked himself to school. On his way to school a car followed him very slowly but Rufus kept walking. When he got to school it looked the same on the outside that it always had. Rufus pushed open the doors at Searingtown School and yelled “I’m back!” All of his friends ran over to hug him. He went down to the office to get a tour he thought he didn’t need because he remembered every single solitary thing about this place. While the tour was going on everything going on was a blur. He looked left, right and left again, admiring the changes the school had made. “Wow” he sighed. “Is there a problem Rufus?” the tour guide asked. Rufus answered, “When I was here the wall paint was all chipped, there were broken windows and holes in the walls.” “Oh ok, well that concludes our tour and this door on your right is your first period class.” The tour guide replied. Rufus walked in and sat at an available seat at the back of the class room. He opened his notebook and took notes even though he didn’t understand anything that was going on. By the time 5th period came around it was time for lunch he was starving. All of his friends called him over and asked him to sit with him. Momma didn’t make him a big lunch because they didn’t have that much food in the house and then needed to split it 3 different ways. Allison who used to have a big crush on Rufus sat right next to him. Mitchell and Charlie sat across from him and Christina, Alisha and Sammy sat around them. When the bell rang he went to his locker and when he got to class he looked out the window and saw the same car that followed him to school. The only person he thought of was Simon. But he didn’t have a car? Rufus ran to the office to explain the…

I was sitting in the classroom when the principal came on the intercom, announcing that the bells would be delayed, and those not staying after school to go to the cafeteria. So several classmates and I started headed to the lunchroom. As we walked in, teachers with panicky and terrified faces frantically directed us to the tables. People were whispering, crying, and yelling and screaming. I sat down at one of the long, smooth, freezing brown tables, waiting anxiously to hear what was happening. I looked around and saw ugly white walls and tons of people. As more students poured in the vast cafeteria, teachers and administrators were walking hurriedly around, with horrified faces, and tear marks streaming down their faces. I, as many others, looked puzzled, student to student, wondering what in the world was going on.…

As I wake up to the smell of fresh breakfast biscuits on a hot August morning, I get the sudden feeling of nervous butterflies in my stomach. Today was mine and Cassie’s first day at the Jefferson Davis School, a former whites-only school, who wanted us to join. No one really knows why, but Mama agreed. Mama came into my room to get me out of bed, then to Cassie’s. Both of us were extremely anxious and did not want to go, but Mama did not want to hear it, so we kept quiet and obeyed. After dressing up in our nice clothes and eating a good breakfast, we ran to ride the bus for the very first time. Cassie and I were going to be put in the same classes because we are new, despite our age difference. As we approached the bus, Jeremy, who was in line, spotted us. “Hey Cassie! Hey Stacey!” he called out. “I heard you guys are coming to the…

Only 2 tedious hours of school and I could go home and lay in my queen size bed with my body sized pillow because today was just not my day. As i walk into Mr. Schwantes class I see an egg, a cup filled with water, and toilet paper roll. I know right then and there we are doing a really fun activity. Mr. Schwantes was always a fun teacher. He was very helpful as well. I could always count on him to cheer me up. I take a seat and read the board and do what it says. “ Good morning boys and girls!!” Mr. Schwantes says as he walks in the room, “ We will be doing an experiment today. Please move all of your stuff to the back counter when you are done with your blog.” As i stand up to go put my folder and notebook on the back counter I start feeling a little light headed. What was wrong with me? My stomach aches and i'm really dizzy. After standing there for about 20 seconds i feel fine again. I place my items on the back counter and take my seat, I just couldn't get the fact that the big game was tonight and i didn't feel good out of my head. “Are you okay Kierra,” Mr. Schwantes asks, “You look a little…
