The Era between 1920-1930 was an exuberant deal. In this specific Era, boredom was not an option. One of the many things that went on in this decade, was called "The Silent Movie Era". The longer it went on, the more it progressed.
In this Era, numerous people become well- known and very famous. Many actors and actresses played roles in all sorts of movies. Some of these famous actors and actresses were Rudolph Valentino, Charlie Chaplin, Clara Bow and Greta Garbo. They, were all looked upon by millions of people.

Clara Bow was one of the best. Clara was from Brooklyn, New York (Roaring20sweebly.) She was born on July 29th, 1905, and died on September 27, 1965. Her stardom began in 1921, and was described as the "sex symbol" of the 20s (Discus). Clara Bow was present in about 46 silent films, and was known for the original "It Girl". Clara Bow was an amazing actress.
There were many famous actresses. Greta Garbo, who was from Stockholm, Sweden, was another great actress (Discus). She was born on September 18th, 1905 and died April 15th , 1990. Her active years began in 1921 and ended in 1940 (Discus). Greta's greatest films were Anna Christie, Romance Queen Christina, Anna Kavenia, Camille, and Ninotcka. She even got nominated three times for an academy award, for being such a great actress.
At the beginning of the 1920s, all of the movies were silent, which means that all of the dialogue had been transmitted through mostly hand muted gestures (Sinyard, Neil). Also, the movies weren't just silent, they all occurred in black and white. It wasn’t until 1922, when the first all color feature The Toll of the Sea, was released (Discus). Almost everything that people did, was a good time. This is why movies became so popular. As Americans struggled through their tough stages in life, they took advantage of the power to "the big screen" for an escape of unhappiness (Krenz, Carol). Movies were important for being a distraction.They, were also cheap for there entertainment (American-historama). Americans, enjoyed movies and attended them on a weekly basis
