Hypothetically, I am applying at local police after completing the police academy. One friend of mine from college actually work for the same department. However, she decided not to mention the fact that we were arrested for marijuana our freshman year, reason being is that the charges were dropped because the search the officers ducted was illegal. She also advised me that the department does not conduct polygraph as part of the hiring process. I now have the decision to either lie on the form or tell the truth about the incident. I know if that if I lie eventually I will be found out, but I believe that the long-ago arrest will never become known. If I don’t lie, I will be asked to explain the situation of the arrest and my friend will be implicated in the story. The facts of the the story is that we were had an illegal substance that happen to be marijuana, and we were caught with substance by a law enforcement officer. My friend did not display her trustworthiness to the agency when she completed her application.
