The mosquito is the main reason to cause malaria. More specifically, mosquitoes transmit the disease through their bites. People did not know what caused this disease until 1900s, a British military man found that it was caused by Mosquito-borne (Bill Gates, 2009). Since then, people began to recognize the reason of malaria spread.
After finding the cause of the malaria, how to find a way to solve this issue should be concerned.
With a start, people came up with two tools which might help us bring the death rate of malaria down. One of the tools is that killing the mosquitoes with DDT. Another is that using quinine, or quinine derivatives to treat the patients. However, it is merely effective on rich countries (Bill Gates, 2009). Therefore, we should look for a better way to treat it.
Secondly, bed nets are a great tool to handle this disease. It means that if children stay under the bed nets when they are going to sleep, the mosquitoes might not get at them. It can cut deaths by over 50 percent when treating the mosquitoes with DDT and using those nets. That has happened in a number of countries (Bill Gates, 2009). Obviously, this is a significant role.
Overall, using DDT and bed nets is a good way to solve this issue. Nevertheless, it is still imminent to find a more effective way to reduce infant mortality. Nonetheless, it seems to me that governments should do their duty in this issue at the same time. If people try their best to treat this issue, great change will take place in the status quo.
