The Start of a New Day
The Start of a New Day
On June 8th of 2010, I had taken my first step out of Junior High school and onto a next level, High School. I would always hear bad assumptions about high school. For example, many assumed you would get bullied in high school, just because we were freshmen. That’s what had always thought until my sister told me the real story of High School.
The story was the year as a freshman. The first day of school was the craziest day you will ever encounter at the start of high school. And when I mean start, I mean START. Many activities, about 20 at the same time, occur and that makes the confusion a whole lot worse. That’s all I heard from my sister so I don’t exactly know what happens after that.
This is the time of summer and all you need to worry about is relax, have fun, and enjoy the time of your life. Unfortunately, those times fly by instantly. High school is nearing to your destination. Now the time of your life, flip flops and you must prepare the next step in life as you prepare for High school. I get all my school supplies, necessary school supplies that are meant for high school. Not crayons or markers, but pencils and five star notebooks. I really like the notebooks because we didn’t have to color anymore during class like we did in junior high school. That was my least favorite part about junior high school because I hated art. I didn’t hate it but I dislike coloring because I could learn more if we take the time to learn and not color.
So on August 23rd of 2011, my first day of high school had started. Just as my sister had said about the first day of high school, she was pretty much right about everything. I headed towards my first period class which was Biology. My teacher had chosen me the front seat for some apparent reason. I don’t know for sure but that’s what had happened I guess.
My first day has apparently ended and now I must start a new beginning for my new school career. This year was going to be a lot of fun. I can feel the thrill inside me getting excited. I am ready to start a new life and a new grading plan. I am ready for high school and on to college. Although college is still 4 years above me, I am ready to take on any obstacle than awaits me, because I am now in high school. High school has a feeling that can make you do anything better for some reason without knowing you did better.

High school was my time to stop fooling around. The first day of high school, I awoke to the aroma of coffee brewing on the stove. As I get ready to head out my sister approached me, and told me “Education is the key that opens the door many possibilities you can be and do in your near future” I was so nervous the sweat started dripping from my palms, and I suddenly felt 15 degrees hotter. I was nervous, I knew this is the time to get serious. Immediately a thought came across “ how well I do these four years can affect my entire life”. At first high school might look like a time to have fun and have no worries, which was my initial thought. Later on you start to realize that you need work hard. I thought “How would my future look? I don’t want to end up hopelessly. I want to make something of myself. Sometimes it can be hard though. I just have to work through the pain. At this point it’s make it or break it, success is my only…

The last time I remember something as huge as starting in high school was having to move to Oregon from Alaska, but for better or for worse, here I am, attempting to make my mark on this big blue Earth. However, Highschool was never always just peaches, cream, rainbows and unicorns. If I’m to be one hundred percent honest here, I was legitimately terrified of it, whether it be the totally reasonable fear of being stuffed into a locker by a bully or getting lost in a labyrinth of corridors and passages of infinite classes and broom closets. But those fears never truly emerged up until the final days of freedom that remained from my graduation of 8th grade. As the days drew nearer, so did my fear reaching the brim of a breakdown. I was scared,…

I remember the first day of school. I was so excited and nervous at the same, feeling like i had a pit in my stomach. Me and my dad were doing a line that was for the new students. There was a chubby girl with braces and long hair with her dad in the line that was for the kids who were already enrolled in the school. My dad started making conversation with the girl’s dad talking about how it was my first time going to school in the United States.…

She first begins by recalling the goals she once had throughout high school and what measures she took to try and reach them. Her biggest goal in high school starting from freshman year was to obtain a 4.0 GPA and letter in academics. She studied awfully hard and really focused on her academics to attempt to achieve her goal. Unfortunately she did not reach this goal, “I got very close, having all A’s and one B my sophomore year,” she says disappointedly. However, it seems that she has made her way passed it as she says, “It was kind of devastating if I’m honest, but I mean what can I do now, I’ve moved on.” This then lead to a description of how the triumphs and trials she encountered helped her to be more prepared to face the world after high school. She describes high school as “just another four years of my life,” and that what took place then doesn’t really affect her regularly today. “High school showed me that if life brings you down, you will get back up, move on, and get through it; there is always a new tomorrow.”…

It was a week into my senior year in Ganesha High School. Walking into my third period AVID class, right after our 10 minute nutrition break, everybody, rowdy and noisy, talked about what they had done that weekend or what they had seen at break. As usual I walked towards my seat and as usual it was a task. My school bag was hanging on my side and I had my breakfast box that was filled with a milk carton, an apple, and a packaged bread in my hand; I walked and tried not to trip over the carelessly left bags on the isle. People stood up even after the bell had rung and the noise level was still high. I finally got to my seat; first row, first seat, right next to the teacher’s desk in which he had his computer. I put my bag down on the floor and put my breakfast box on top of my desk. The teacher, Mr. Mariles, came in and everybody took their seat, the noise level lowered distinctively. I turned over to face my friend who was sitting behind me. I whispered to her “Do you know what we’re doing in class today?” she whispered back “I think we are working on our personal statement.” I turned to face the front of the class, with a disgusted expression on my face. The teacher then started to explain what we were going to do that day. He had a smile in his face and was making hand movements all over the…

College is like an unopened book with no title; you haven’t the slightest clue as to what’s to come, but you know you’re going to learn something new. I remember stepping into my first college class. I was filled with terror not knowing whom to expect in my class. As I walked in and looked around, I saw about twenty other people scattered about the room staring directly at me. I tried not to make eye contact with anybody, so I walked straight to an empty desk in the back and sat down. About twenty-five minutes after the professor began his lesson I had become drowsy and about to fall asleep. I tried to stay up but couldn’t resist. I awoke thirty minutes later to the ringing of the dismissal bell. The class was over, and I had felt horrible knowing nothing about what the class just learned. College can be a pretty tough place to get through, so know how to survive.…

It was the first day of the 6th Grade and I was very anxious. I had been waiting for that day all summer. It all started when I got of the school bus. The campus was very large, about three times larger than my elementary school. I did not know where to go at first, but then they had announced “all sixth graders report to the MPR”, I had known where that was because our orientation for 6th grade had been held there. In the MPR we had met our advisory teacher. Mine teacher was Ms. Willinger. In advisory she had given us our planners, and schedules, and all the other things we needed. I had never really had a planner to write my homework on or have to go to 7 different classes a day or have classes with different people. It was all very new.…

My first class of my junior year in high school started just like any other of my years in school. I sat in my tiny wood desk anxiously wondering who’s going to walk through the door. Several of my friends came in and we all sat next to each other hoping there would be no specific seating arrangements. Before I knew it the bell for class rang and the teacher walked in as the door behind her creaked shut. She began on the class syllabus that we have to listen to over and over on the first day. Starring off into space I heard the door open and everyone fixed their eyes on it. A tall tan girl walks in holding several of her books close to her chest and apologized for being late. She walked to the back of the room and sat in a desk with a no students around. The teacher started again. I kept thinking to myself that I have never seen her here before, she must have been new to the area. I glanced over at her to get a better look and to really see what she was about. After studying her for a second I got the impression she was a shy, quiet lonely girl lost on her first day at a new school. She was wearing dark washed jeans with a light blue tank top and sparkly Sperry’s. Her hair was dirty blonde, wavy and left down with a partial braid pinned back to the side. I was amazed by the beauty of her and told myself there was no way she was as quite as she appeared. I could tell…
