The media has portrayed a woman in multiple types of media including movies, television shows, and also advertise as the one to do household chores, and also the individual who cooks meals for her family. Even though that most women in a family, are often the ones to cook and clean, they are not the only to actually do these acts. In today's world men sometimes have to prepare meals for their families, and it's more common for men to be a stay at home dad since time has completely changed. In the past, media has influenced society by telling people that men have to go to work to provide for their families while women sit at home cooking and cleaning, which personally I believe is incorrect. Meanwhile, while World War II is occurring, women had to leave their cooking and cleaning and had found work to support their families while their husbands went away to war. Around the 1950s cleaning product companies were sending a message to women encouraging them to cook and clean, and the women were not too thrilled about the message that is provided. In the 1960s a study created by Betty Friedan tested to see whether if home product companies were likely to reach out to women or men. For example, in a majority of films, women are mainly the characters in a show or movie who always seem to play the damsel in distress role, meaning that they are always needing to be saved by a male. The typical fairy tales about princesses that mostly display women who are constantly being rescued by their destined knight in shining armor, who is always being played by a male figure. In very few films women who are the main protagonist who have the role of saving a male character in the show or movies. Some people view the few instances when women are saving a man that she's boyish like or strong physically and mentally. Another way that the media as negatively affected how women should be viewed in society, is the different ways that women are being represented in the media. For instance, with films, one male character would tell another male character that he does something like a girl. When one of the men state that another does something similar to a girl, its implying that it is not a good thing, and often offend women. Statements like those tell women that they could never be able to do the things that men are capable of doing, but also these statements are being stereotypical. Also, another stereotype in media is often presented in a specific genre in films. Most romance films are often centered around a main female
