anybody but herself.
Sam: Did you tell him about the baby?
Angel: Of course I told him. He was surprised at first, maybe a little mad at me. He sounded like you. “What about Leland? What about Leland? What about me?
Sam: This will kill him, Angel.
Angel: No it won’t! He’ll live through it just fine. And so will I. This is my chance to live free, Doc, and I’m taking it.
Sam: Freedom’s such as abstract thing. That baby’s flesh and blood.
Angel: It was flesh and blood the last time, too…
Angel did not care about nobody but herself, not even her unborn child.
The idea of living lavish and was more to her than anybody. The character I like the most form Blues of an Alabama sky was Delia because she suppressed the role of the typical woman. She was a woman with morals and values and care for others. She was a woman of integrity and her life goal was to open a clinic in the community for the people. Unlike Angel, Delia was a woman with a voice and was not afraid to use it. The idea that the environment you are surrounded by and the people that surround you whether good or buy, it surprises me by how people do not appreciate the things that they are giving in life and how they do not know how to work with their strengths. Angel had a beautiful voice and she could have went far in life if only she tried like how Delia use her strengths to open up a clinic in the community or Guy use his ability to make clothes and never gave up on his dream of making costumes for Josephine Baker in Paris. “These are not inherent behavioral characteristics, but because of their social and economic environment and circumstances, they are forced to endure a life of hopelessness, despair, and moral decay”. Although she had friends like Delia and Guy, people to work for what they want out of life and try their hardest to achieve it, Angel just prove to be another statistics of, The Black Poor and “Underclass”. Angel only saw dollar signs and not people. She did not see family and friends
trying to help her enhance her strengths and become the women they had hopes of what she can be. I believe that the idea that people can be so blind of the opportunities that lies before them for a pipe dream is the thing that stops most from advancing.
