The Bastille was a form of government representation or a way to represent royal authority in the centre of Paris. Furthermore, the national day in France is on July 14 to recognize the Storming of the Bastille.
To continue, the storming of the bastille occurred on one main reason. To begin with, in 1789 there was something called the 3 estates. The three estates was divided into Nobles, Clergy and the rest of the population. The rest of the population were forced to pay 100% of the taxes even though they were the poorest class. Back in 1789, it was not such a pleasant place to be, especially for the people who were sentenced to death by the guillotine. The guillotine was a type of torture reserved to the people who dared to disrespect the king or had different opinions of the ones that surrounded them. To add on, the guillotine mainly showed itself during the Reign of Terror. An interesting fact is a person by the name of Georges Jaques Danton was the leader of a group called the Jacobins. In 1789 the Jacobins were the violent group that sent people to the guillotine. Danton decided to address his people (Jacobins) by saying that the excess about of torture was enough (killed over 1,000 people). To begin with, one significant aspect is the “Women's March on Versailles”. This march eventually started one morning when the women in the marketplaces of Paris decided to protest on the high price of bread. Their protest soon began to grow with thousands of allies uniting them together, soon after these women robbed the cities armory for weapons and marched to the Palace of Versailles on October 5, 1789.
