This story was written by Saki, a man who wrote a frightening story called The Interlopers. Ulrich Von Gradwitz, stood in a dark forest on a winter night, waiting for a human enemy to come into his presence. He was waiting for his lifelong enemy, Georg Znaeym, whose families have fought for three generations and has never settled ever since. Georg and Ulrich wanted a narrow strip of forest that was filled with wild game that both men quarreled over, after their grandparents had been through the same issues with each other. “as boys they thirsted for one another’s blood, as men each prayed that misfortune might fall on the other,”. Foreshadowing was used multiple times as a way of “ shadowing” important and useful information to the stories’ meanings and events. We can see that they include family issues and problems that can ruin friendships and families lives, and death plays a big role in how the stories end, as well. The first story shows conflict between a man and a woman, through marriage, but on the other hand, the second story is between two men and their generations before them. This dramatically changes how the stories are written because of the characters that are afflicted. The main characters in The Interlopers have anger and hatred to each other, however, The Story of An Hour has heartbreak that eventually leads to grief for the loved ones affected by
