“One of the most historical & significant person in American history”, that´s the way Dr. Boyce Watkins describes the legendary Malcolm X.

Malcolm X was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1925. But his birth name was Malcolm Little,the X represents the loss of his tribal name. His Father Earl Little was a baptist minister who also was a supporter of black nationalist leader Marcus Garvey. Because of his civil rights activism he and his family often received threats and faced harassments from white racial groups like Ku Klux Klan (KKK). Earl Little was also killed by the KKK but the police officially ruled it as a suicide.
Growing up Malcolm´s mother Louise Little was taken to a mental hospital and he lived with family friends.

In school Malcolm was a very smart kid, but in high school he said to a teacher that he wanted to become a lawyer, but the teacher told him that “niggers don't get to be lawyers”. After that he dropped out of school and moved around a lot, until he went to prison for burglary. While he was in prison his brother used to tell him about ELijah Muhammed who was the leader of a group of muslims that called themselves Nation Of Islam (NOI). When Malcolm got out of prison he went to Elijah and became the group's spokesperson.
In only 8 years Malcolm won large numbers of followers. In 1963 Malcolm X learned that his mentor Elijah Muhammed violated many of his own teachings. That made Malcolm leave NOI and then he traveled to North Africa and Middle East and he also made the Hajj which is the traditional pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia and during that time he converted to Islam.
