The marquises can be identified when they wear their marquisates.

4. chagrin, 201- feeling of being vexed, humiliated or disappointed
Marius did not feel chagrin when he was told he was going to meet him soon.

5. aggrandizement, 207- to make something larger than it actually is
The more Marius learned about the history and his father the more he aggrandized his father.

Marius thought that the girl with incarnadine cheeks was beautiful.

Marius had an assiduity in pursuing Cosette, but this made Monsieur Leblanc, or Valjean, suspicious.

The substage of Paris was described to be like the cave of the inferi and meant to be feared.

Babet was described to be diaphaneity, the complete opposite of Monsieur Gillenormand.

The debaucherous Thenardiers will eventually peril when they face real danger because of the crimes they committed.
