The Strengths Quest Analysis
We tend to obsess over our weaknesses rather than recognizing our strengths, but the strengths quest introduced us to a different philosophy. Instead of dwelling on our weaknesses or desperately trying to turn them into strengths, we should focus on the strengths we already have and built upon them to succeed. The Strengths Quest presentation was my favorite part of the course. The Strengths Quest is a 30-minute online assessment that asks us a series of questions and determines what our five top strengths are based on our choices. The presentation helped us gain insights on how to use our strengths to our advantage. We learned about each of our strengths and how they can help us succeed in academics, work, relationships, and choosing a career. …show more content…
This semester, my results were a bit different, I got Context, Analytical, Deliberative, Restorative, and Intellection. Only one of them was different and the rest just appeared in a different order. This book review is on Strengths Finder 2.0. Written by Tom Rath, this book follows and elaborates on Donald Clifton's Strength Finder assessment created in 1998. Strength Finder 2.0 looks to dispel the outdated belief that only weaknesses need to be improved upon. The textbook Psychology Applied to Work describes this concept as positive psychology, "The aim of positive psychology is to shift the emphasis away from what is wrong with people to what is right with people" (Muchinsky & Culberson, pg. 384, 2016). With that premise on its head, Strengths Finder 2.0 looks to first identify the strengths of others and directs them to improve on what they already do so well. Even though the text can be applied practically, the book really focuses…

The five signature themes I got on the StrengthsFinder were: Empathy, Developer, Intellection, Input, and Adaptability. All these traits will be very beneficial to me as a future adoption caseworker. Empathy is the top strength I got, the StrenghtsFinder writes about empathy as “You can feel what they are feeling as though their feelings are your own.” My intuition towards other’s feelings would help me help others, especially if someone is giving up their child to give to another family. I would be able to identity how they are feeling to help them through hard times to help them make the best decision for their family. As a developer, one of my strengths is noticing improvements as people grow to reach their potential. One overlooked part of an…
