Since the construction of the dome required an enormous number of craftsmen, it burdens the economy of Florence. Also, the building of the dome did not succeed directly. It went through a number of drawbacks. These drawbacks influence Florentines because they believed that the money that was spent on the construction could have been used in different fields that have more benefits for society. These changes vary from small to big changes. As my group and I studied the constructions of various buildings in different eras, my group and I realized the developments that took place in the processes of constructions. For instance, the use of buildings’ materials has changed dramatically since the building of Brunelleschi’s dome. Steel, Aluminum, Granite are good examples of the materials that are being used currently in constructions. Similarly, technology has absolutely changed the processes of construction. In the past, more workers were needed to achieve a specific task but nowadays with the use of machines less labor force is required. And that is the major key to start the comparison between the constructions in the past and now. The first characteristic that should be considered in the comparison between old and new constructions is the time required to finish a building. In the past, more time was required to finish the constructions of a building. Even though constructions in the past needed more time, it was more aesthetically pleasing due to the engagement of craftsmen. On the other hand, constructions nowadays has some advantages. For instance, modern transportation methods make the transfer of goods and materials much easier. For instance the construction for every building besides the ones in New York were built near water because that was the easiest way to move materials. As
