The Theme of Death in Hamlet

Hamlet is a wonderful tragedy, full of revenge, deceit, betrayal, and most importantly, death. Shakespeare's Hamlet takes place in England during the year 1602, under the reign of Elizibeth I in the country of Denmark. The theme of death in Hamlet follows a dark trail, often crossing paths with the themes of revenge and betrayal. Hamlet leads a troubled life, after his father dies, he seems to go mad, but is he just trying to hide his true feelings of his father's death? Did he react so much, that it seemed that he did not react at all? One of the most important deaths in Hamlet, was the death of Hamlet's father, the King of Denmark. His death was not in the play, but it set off a chain reaction causing many other deaths. The fuse was lit when the ghost of Hamlet's father introduced the first ideas of death and their consequences. The ghost manipulated Hamlet using guilt by saying "If thou didst ever thy dear father love Revenge his foul and most unnatural murder" (Hamlet, Act I, Scene 5, Lines 23 and 25). This makes Hamlet realize that his uncle, Claudius, was the murderer, and Hamlet vows to get revenge.
