The Theme Of The Devil In The Rich Ranchero's Maguey Fense
In the Legends of the Devil, there is a common theme that angels and Heaven trump devils and Hell. While this is a common theme in most monotheism cultures, the difference here is that the devil comes across as a weaker character than even the average human.
In the stories, The Rich Ranchero’s Maguey Fense and The Pulque Vendor Tricks the Devil, the devil is tricked. The rachero is able to make the cock crow before day break and the pulque vendor is able to get the devil too drunk to keep working. In both of these stories the main characters doesn’t have to try that hard to trick that devil. This makes the devil seem foolish.
In the story, The Priest Goes Down the Hell, the devils are being tortured. This makes the devils come off as weak.
