What is the theory of this “ism”? (small paragraph in your own words)
A parliamentary democracy is a type of government where an alliance of parties or a party who has a high portrayal in the parliament forms the government. That means that even though the people vote for a president, the prime minister is the leader of the political party. The cabinet which holds the executive power, is led by the prime minister. This is a democratic government, which means the government is lead by the people, and the people get the majority rule.
What is a real-life example of this “ism”? (name the country) The real life example of this ism is Ireland. Their current president is Michael D Higgins, who has a more ceremonial or formal role in the government, but the head of the government is Taoiseach, who is the prime minister Enda Kenny.

A representative democracy is when the citizens of the country have a say in the decisions of government, but also vote for a leader who makes the decisions on behalf of the citizens. A direct democracy is when the citizens are able to make the decisions directly. A representative democracy is better than a direct because there is a leader from the government to approve the decisions made by the people. If the people can make their decisions of policies directly, it can be good and bad. It can be good because the citizens would be happy and get what they want, but it could also be bad, because then the people would take advantage of the power they have.
