The Things I Learned In My Life
Along the course of my life I have learned a lot such as who to trust, who your real friends are, and what is and isn’t ok. During my 18 years on this earth I have had a lot of positive things in my life, but also a lot of disappointing times. Example in 5th grade I told my supposed “best friend” a secret that I haven’t told anyone before. The next day the whole school knew…I was humiliated and hurt. I never talked to him again. That’s just one example of many. Another thing that I have learned is you figure out who your real friends are when you’re in need. Example recently I’ve had some personal problems and another one of my supposed “friends” that I went to just blew it off didn’t even care. Nothing hurts more than when someone u at one point trusted completely ignores you when you need them most. Another example is when I was in 6th grade I was having problems with this kid in school I won’t say names, he was calling me names behind my back and spreading rumors. So I confronted him and told him to stop. He laughed at me and shoved me… now I can take a lot but when it comes down to this …show more content…
Of course I was sent down to the principal and I swore on everything I owned I had no idea what it meant. Typically she didn’t believe me so I got two days of detention. Sometimes in life these are the only ways you learn like I could tell you swearing in school is bad but you don’t have to believe it until you actually do it and get in trouble and learn from it. One of the most major things that I have learned in my time is that you get everything you earn life is not going to just hand it to you. Life is going to screw you over, its going to happen you will never know when, but you have to pick yourself up and fight back and believe everything’s going to be

We were just talked exactly what Akiva Goldsman, a movie producer, said: “the truth is, it’s not what happens to us. It’s what we do with it.” We cannot change what has happened to us, but we can change how we accept realities and how we deal with them. I have a friend who comes to me to say “my life sucks.” She always takes anything negatively even if what has happened to her doesn’t seem that bad for my other friends and I. Talking to her has reminded me that depends on how we look at an event, one’s life can be totally different.…

Leadership is a term that is heavily used in today’s society and is often times overlooked for its true meaning. In our text it is defined as “the ability to influence a group toward the achievement of a vision or set of goals” (Robbins, 01/2012, p. 368). After serving in the Marine Corps for five years I have seen many different leadership styles; some which were effective, and others that were not. The leader that had the most influence on me while serving was a Marine by the name of Major Marcus Mainz. He served as the Operations Officer for my Battalion while deployed to Iraq.…

Sure, there has been some bad moments but no longer do I view them as bad experiences. I’ve realized that in order to live happily and have a meaningful life, negative moments must be turned into positive experiences. With a mentality that failures are merely learning experiences, nothing stands in my way of being able to achieve what I want in life. Up until a few years ago, I didn’t realize this. I often dwelled on the negatives and minor complications of my life. My perspective on life started to change when I heard the song “Live Like You Were Dying” by Tim McGraw. This song is about a man who will soon die of terminal cancer and wants to experience the most out of life before his time is up. Hearing this really made me think about how I looked at life. Overtime, I realized that my outlook on life had been too pessimistic and I needed to change in order to be truly happy and achieve the happiness I longed…

Life is full of surprises both good and bad. The biggest surprise of my life came 2 years ago when my mother passed away. Dealing with her death was a very hard thing to do, but I managed to get through it. First thing I had to realize is that acceptance is a major part in dealing with the death of a loved one. I had to understand what happened and not try to live in a fantasy world. I couldn’t pretend that my mother was on vacation, because it would only make things harder. The second thing I had to do was talk to someone about how losing my mother had made me feel. I tried not to shut people out, because I knew it will only lead to depression. Third thing I learn was to do whatever it takes to keep my mother alive in my memory. I had to remember the good times and realize that someday we will be reunited. I spent a lot of time with the people who loved and cared about me. They will be my comfort and shoulder to cry on if things get hard. I was told to never be ashamed to grieve over the loss of my mother. Finally, I didn’t ever let anyone tell me to get over it. We are all…

I remember that dreadful April afternoon like it was yesterday. My heart was ready to jump out of my chest from pounding so hard, and I could feel my face turning bright red from the embarrassment. I was trying my hardest not to give them the satisfaction of seeing me cry, even though it was extremely hard to hold back the tears. I felt the room spinning and me running out of that room in a matter of seconds. When I look back at this moment now, I realize that this particular event made me a better person with a stronger personality. I am very thankful it happened, even though I might have not thought so at the moment.…
