The title :
'' Loves secret '' by William Blake is poem of unrequited love, the author is narrating a sad love story, he feels lovesick.

The Author :
William Blake was born in London in 1757. He belongs to the pre-romantic period in England.

The setting :
The poem was written in the 18th century, Im England .

The Theme :
It's about the departure of a loved one when he admits that he loves her. The departure of the loved one can be interpreted in two ways. In one way, departure means her death, whereas in another way it means she left the speaker for another man. In the first stanza, Blake’s use of words such as “gentle wind” and “Silently, invisibly” suggests that love is a sensitive topic and should approach it with caution. '' I told my love, I told her all my heart '' The second stanza goes on to elaborate the first stanza, where the speaker confesses his love to his lover. In doing so, it causes the lover to “[tremble], cold, in ghastly fears.” '' Ah! she dod depart! '' means that the lover has gone away with another man or could be that when he confesses his real feelings, she dies leaving him alone. She had departured and someone had took her “he took her with a sigh”

The Tone :
The poet seems to be regretful and perssimistic .

The poem reflects the sadness that invaded the author's heart .

The Style :
The poem has three stanzas with four verses each, the way the stanzas link like a narrative story helps to convey that message that one must be careful who to love and how to express it . The rhyme is simple with alliterating heroic couplets A_B_A_B. We can find visual rhyme: love-move, heart-depart and also phonetic rhyme: love-fears . As for the diction Blake uses past tenses to narrate the love story which took place in one moment of his life, the rythm is simple and slow although he sometimes used complex words

The Figures of Speech : Metaphor : "For the gentle wind does move '' In this line the poet is comparing his love with gentle wind because at this poin he still didn't express his love and it's kept a secret which makes it like gentle, invisible and silent wind . '' A traveler came by '' the poet could meant death or someone that took his love.
There's contrast between love and fears .
