“The Traits That Define a Good Mother.”
Every mother has a moment in her life where she remembers every detail. She will forever remember the date time and place, and the newfound sense of love. It is the moment she gave birth to her child. At that very moment, she makes a vow to herself and her child that she will be a good mother. There are so many traits that make a good mother, I will define the traits important to me. These are the traits I feel help define a good mother; unconditional love, trust, support, and patience. A good mother has an endless supply of unconditional love. “A child could destroy a mother’s most prized possession, but she will still have a smile on her face because her child is safe.” Unconditional love is known as affection without any limits. There is nothing a child could do to lose a good mothers love. As the child grows so does the mothers amount of unconditional love. A good mother shows the child that they can trust her with anything. During the first years of the child’s life the child depends and trusts that their mother will take of care of them and their basic needs to sustain life. When a child is scared, sad, seeking advice or help a good mother is who a child turns to. Being trustworthy is also a good a good trait to instill in your child by example. Every child needs support, and a good mother is their child’s main support system and backbone. There are many ways a good mother supports her child. Financial support is a big one, you don’t have to be rich to be a good mother. A good mother will be able to provide the child’s basic necessities and usually a little more. Children also need emotional support. Sometimes it’s something as simple as a kiss on a skinned knee, a compliment, or being a listening ear, and a shoulder to cry on. Most children look to a good mother for emotional support even into their adulthood. The mother may not always agree with the decisions her child makes. However, a good mother will be there to support their child in whatever way they seek best. Support can be shown by going to a school or sporting event that the child is involved in. When a good mother supports their child they are helping them reach their full potential. Patience is an important trait for everyone to possess. The quality of being patient, as the bearing of provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain, without complaint, loss of temper, irritation, or the like. Parenting has to be one of the biggest tests of a good mother’s patience. Children will test their mother’s patience their entire life, but the real test is how the mother reacts. Her responses are key, even when she feels as if she could lose her temper, she doesn’t. Instead a good mother corrects the child calmly and may separate herself from the situation for a minute. When a mother shows patience with her a child she is shaping a key personality trait in her child. Being a good mother is in no way shape or form being a perfect mother. She is a woman devoted to her child, who possesses the above said traits and uses them to help her child reach his or her full potential. There is nothing in this world my son could do to lose my love. I can only hope that one day he will look back and define me as a “ good mother.”

Parenting is a big part of every ones lives; it makes up who you are as a person and in many cases projects who you will be in the future. Some adults have trouble manipulating their children and teaching them what is right from wrong, while others have a much easier time doing so. In my opinion there is no such thing as “the perfect parent”, both the mother and the father have their flaws, but what matters is that the parent is always there for personal support. To me a good parent is someone who is always there to support there children in both good and bad terms, and a responsible adult that can supply for their kids necessities, not necessarily all the luxuries that they want. Another key point to being a good parent is to be a good leader, all kids look up to their parents and most of the time follow their parents footsteps and part of being a good leader is being a hard worker. A parent that is supportive, responsible, and a leader and hard worker all make up to be a great parent in my opinion. In the stories Scar by Amy Tan, My Fathers Hands by Daisy Hernandez, and the poems Those Winter Sundays by Robert Hayden, No Longer a Teenager by Gerald Locklin all tie up to the universal theme of good parenting. Even though some characters in the story struggle to be the perfect parent they desire to be, some are successful in doing so while others just cannot do their duty.…

Though, all relationships are of similar significance but till now, no comparison for the mother-son core and fundamental associations have been presented by any researcher, scholar, expert, intellectual, psychologist or social thinker. My grandmother used to tell me that I needed to be sure about motherhood before choosing to become a mother for two very important reasons. First, the mother is the child’s first teacher for everything in his/her life and secondly children learn what they live. If everyone stopped and thought about that before they created and brought innocent children into the world, we would not have the societal levels of violence we see everyday. I myself am a tactile learner, meaning I need visual aids for everything, so from…

My mother played a vital role in shaping my personality, character, morals, and self esteem. I love the way Dr. Northrup describes the importance of a healthy mother-daughter relationship; "I firmly believe that the mother-daughter bond is designed by nature to become the most empowering, compassionate, intimate relationship we 'll ever have" (Northrup, 2006). I would take it a step further by saying it’s a design by God to create the most magnificent women possible. There are numerous benefits to daughters having healthy attachments to their mothers. For example, according to (Heath, 2013), a healthy attachment to one’s mother predicts better conflict resolution behavior. I have come to learn that mothers can take on several different and distinct parenting patterns –authoritarian, permissive, and indulgent to name a few. This essay will discuss the distinct relationship that I have with my mother. It will also talk about the positive and negative influences that my relationship with my mother is having in my life.…

It might also be the most difficult, for parenting is a round-the-clock endeavor filled with demands and obligations”. Gioia makes a point that not everyone will live up to be “good parents” because no parent is perfect, but they can be good by enforcing a never-ending supply of unconditional love.
