The Treasure Of Lemon Brown Essay

In the story, "The Treasure of Lemon Brown," there is a 14-year-old boy named Greg Ridley. Greg is a young athlete striving to be a part of his local Rec. team in basketball, but his dreams are soon crushed by a letter home from school. The letter, from the school board, stayed if Greg doesn't take his math class more seriously he will fail. After coming home and giving the letter to his father, his father gives him a longs lecture about the importance of school. Then, instead of going upstairs to study, he runs away. As he is running away he runs into a conflict, rain. So, as a result of the rain, Greg IMPROTULY runs into an old abandoned building. Inside there was a door leading to a room and inside the room was an old broken couch. Greg TENTATIVELY
After Greg hearing a loud crash, he panics and makes a noise to scare off the thugs. Greg was pleased to find out his plan worked and both Greg and Lemon sat down on the floor. Still not knowing what Lemon Brown's treasure is, Greg asked if he may know what Lemon's treasure is. Then Lemon explains he is an old Jazz musician and that the music game forgot him, which put him on the streets. INTENTLY listening, Greg understood everything Lemon was saying about his life and his story, but Lemon still had not told him what it was. Then, Lemon pulled out a small object covered in paper and handed it to Greg. He unwraps it revealing a small pearl harmonica. Then Lemon explains that every man has a treasure and that is their story. After their goodbyes, on the way home with this new found information, Greg rethinks about the lecture and how he could do better in school and thinks if he should tell his father about his experience with lemon brown.
