We see that in the Truman Show, most acotrs and actresses are wearing a similar form of clothing, which is inspired by the 1940's, 1950's. Through clothing we undertsand what Christof imagines an idealised world should look like, for example, simple clothing and boring use of colours. Costume designer of the Truman Show, Marylin Matthews, set out to create clothing to reflect Trumans worls. Truman Burbank, the protagnosit of the film, is portrayed to be the only one in the fil whom dresses himself, all the actors and actresses are dressed by the wardrobe department; which then allowedTruman to stand out. Throughout the film, all of Trumans clothing are designed using stripes, whether being his shirt, tie or even suitcase. The use of stripes determined the feeling of being imprisoned. Although, in the last scene, where Truman is about to leave Seahaven, his clothing, the pattern and design is changed, it is no long stripes, but just norma plain. This is a way in which the director has chosen to express the feeling of freedom.
