She is most famous from the Vietnam Veteran Memorial, located in Washington D.C. it has exactly 58,307 names including man and woman who have fought in the Vietnam War. My favorite piece that she made was The Women’s Table. The table is a fountain dedicated to the women at Yale University. When looking on top of the fountain, there are numbers in a spiral formation representing the women who have enrolled into Yale. The table is made out of green granite with a black granite base. When looking at the picture of the sculpture, the dark colors of the fountain are relaxing and…

Roman law is made up of two simple yet complex principles: The law must be recorded and justice could not be left in the hands of judges alone to interpret, Roman Law also included the 12 tables. If you look at the Canadian law system you realize that these two principles are incorporated into our laws. Once Roman law started recording their laws every generation since then has recorded their laws as well so they have an official document of laws to refer to, so here in Canada we have any law written on a document so everyone has access to it and no one can say they weren’t aware of the laws and to make sure they are correctly enforced in society. The second principle of Roman law also shaped our laws, in Canada we do use judges to help interpret our laws but we don't leave it up to just them we also have a jury at times to help make an assertive decision or higher levels of court to ensure justice is…

The Twelve Tables were written in order to standardize law as it applies to both patrician and plebeians. Mostly procedural, the law appears to be fair and balanced spelling out the rights that all men have concerning family, land and legal procedures. The Twelve Tables helps paint a picture of an agrarian society where honor, equality and family structure is a valued, component in society. The law, however, strict supports these ideas and gives us an understanding of this archaic, barbaric, agrarian, society where the rule of law was based mostly on an eye for an eye conception.…

From the Code of Hammurabi and Twelve Tables were the foundation of principles, rules and guidelines that humans needed to live by in order to survive. Today courts follow a similar code by upholding the laws and making sure that the ones that choose to violate them are punished accordingly. “The common law can be better understood when it is contrasted with special law, which refers to the laws of specific villages and localities that were in effect in medieval England and that were often enforced by canonical courts. Under the reign of Henry II (1154–1189), national law was introduced, but not through legislative authority as is customary today. Rather, Henry II implemented a system whereby judges from his own central court went out into the countryside to preside over disputes. They resolved these disputes based on what they perceived as custom. The judges effectively created law, as there was no democratic law-forming process in place at the time” (Siegel, Schmallege, & Worrall, 2011, Chapter 1). Precedent refers to past decisions on similar cases, which make it easier for judges to follow on most outcomes of their current case. The precedent has been a great way to keep similar cases flowing easier and quicker through the court system, which is a huge…

Without governing the actions of business and social laws, society and business would not function effectively, and more than likely—commerce would crumble. Social and business laws seem simple from the outside looking in. However, the legal system in the United States can be very complex but can be broken down into groups: statutes, constitutions, administrative decisions and regulations, common law, treaties, executive orders and ordinances. Of these groups, the most common terms one may hear in a business or social environment are constitutional, common, statutory and administrative law.…
