The U.S. currency has been the reason why the Liberian dollar is of no value to its citizens. Businesses would prefer accepting the U.S. dollar from consumers than the Liberian dollar. The prices of commodities are very high, and the average person can’t afford to sustain his/herself. Going to the supermarket in Liberia is like you being in the U. S, the prices are

Currently, the central bank’s interventions are limited and aimed at smoothing volatility in the market. In order to stabilize the currency, I will diligently work with the Bank of Sierra Leone (BoSL) and with the IMF to introduce a stringent stabilization policy and reduce our country’s debt. This policy will be aimed at first and foremost at tightening monetary regulations and reducing government borrowing. I will encourage the BoSL to move from a wholesale foreign exchange auction system to a retail auction system available to importers. This will enhance the currency’s stability in the market as well as improve competitiveness.…

The more stable our economy is, the more stable the value of the United States dollar is. I have heard people ask before if we can print our own money, then why are we currently in debt. The answer is simple: if we print more money to make up for the debt, then our money would become less…

Positioning the United States as its key trading partner was accomplished via dollarization. Accepting the US dollar as its sole form of currency eased trade complications between El Salvador and the US and eliminated volatility of the Colón in the foreign exchange market. This dollarization gave Salvadoran industry the credibility of the US dollar, eliminating or limiting national inflationary effects upon trade. This dollarization, however, lessens the Salvadorans control on their economy through fiscal policy, but also serves to prohibit political instability’s effect on the currency.…

Since Nepal spends less of its GDP on education, it can be said that the country is unable to provide an education of the same quality as the United States. Nepal’s economy also needs to be improved. Nepal’s purchasing power parity is $122.242 billion, which is a fraction of the United States’ purchasing power parity, which is $21.538 trillion. Therefore, Nepal’s currency is much less valuable than the United States’ currency. This means that Nepal’s currency cannot buy as much as the United States Dollar can.…

Currency does corrupt, it’s like having power. Money is something which people can do crazy things. The desire of cash will certainly change people, or not having enough money will make some individuals be a victim of crime. It’s very difficult to know whether that person will handle the change in a positive manner. The greed and the ignorance can destroy the relationships from within even if it’s your parents or best friends in which the outcomes will be irreparable.…

The crucial difference between unofficial and official dollarization is whether the foreign currency is used voluntarily by residents even though it is not legal tender or whether it is officially recognized as legal tender by the government. Official or full dollarization is a complete monetary union with a foreign country from which a country imports a currency, by making the foreign currency full legal tender and reducing its own currency.1 Officially dollarized economies also have few or no restrictions on capital account transactions, and transactions for external payments are relatively free. The use of the foreign currency in their domestic economies is often necessitated by virtue of their openness and heavy reliance on trade (and factor mobility) with their larger…

Canada is one of the most developed countries in the world, with a bolstering economy. With the U.S being Canada’s biggest trading partner and a central part of the world economy, exchange rates for many countries have been calculated by the U.S dollar. The Canadian dollar relative to the U.S dollar has fluctuated dramatically over the last half century, with the Canadian dollar for the majority of that time being weaker. Canada’s dollar reached an all time low, “January. 21st, 2002 at 61.79 cents U.S.”(http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/macquarie-loonie-forecast-1.3401644). Recently over the past few years the strength of our dollar is has been failing, looking after the great fall in 2008, due primarily by the recession, we have seen a bit…

In my opinion the most pertinent Non-traditional threat to the US is the economy. It is the single most important, globalized, and un-accounted for problem in the US. The current problem is so bad that the US economy is days away from a (partial) default. This would be the first default since possibly the 1700’s at the founding of the nation. The problem with this is the US green back is the reserve currency of the world (all or most investments are made in US dollars). If the US defaults it will cause a ripple effect that will make the 2008 global financial crisis look small in comparison to the global catastrophe that will occur. The reason most investments are in US dollars is because dollars have historically been the most stable currency in the modern age.…

"Give me control of a nation's money and I care not who makes it's laws" -Mayer Amschel Bauer Rothschild. Rothschild makes a great point; the people of the United States have zero effect on their own currency. Not even the government has control over the production and distribution of its own currency. That control was given to banks and a private corporation named the Federal Reserve . These private institutions have created a cycle that enriches them and indebts the public. This vicious cycle needs to be terminated, or at least altered.…
