Since its foundation in 1916 BMW has been renowned for their outstanding performance and luxury vehicles. The car featured in this advertisement is the all-new BMW M3 sedan, a performance modified sedan modeled after BMW’s regular 3 series. Two variations of the M3 are offered, coupe or sedan. This advertisement focuses on the sedan, and the primary goal is to present BMW’s vision of what a sedan should be.
Large, roomy, slow, dull, and family. These are all words that come to mind when hearing the word “sedan”. In this advertisement BMW is trying to redefine our interpretation of what a sedan should be. By just looking at the M3 one can tell that there is something strange about this sedan. The large alloy wheels and dual exhaust scream performance coupe, rather than four-door sedan. I like the photo BMW chose for this ad also, it comes off subtle, almost like as if it has nothing to prove, in classic BMW fashion.
The BMW M3 is a car all about numbers as BMW makes crystal clear in this advertisement. Some argue that power isn’t everything and when it comes to the M3 they may be right. The M3 has a 4.0 liter V-8 that produces a thunderous 414 horsepower, however, all that horsepower is useless without the proper power-to-weight ratio which BMW’s M Division has perfected. Furthermore, all that horsepower means the M3 sedan can boom to sixty in just 4.8 seconds which is quicker than most muscle cars. They stress in the advertisement that this power-to-weight ratio makes the M3 sedan handle much like the M3 coupe.
On paper, the M3 sounds almost too good to be true, a hardcore performance four door sedan with 414 horsepower and a zero to sixty time of 4.8 seconds but when driven normally is luxurious and comfortable. In other words this is a perfect car for a family man who has a light but wants to keep it under his
