Four months ago, I met someone who brought me to the world of love and laughter. To the world I thought I would never have. He made me feel comfortable and safe when I’m with him. He completes me. He was a father, older brother and a good friend to me. Now, I can’t imagine my life without him. He, who’s name was “Lord Ivan” – My best friend. I never expected us to be this way. He was just another member of our crew. I admire him. The way he speaks, dance and smile. He never talks directly to us at first. And as we started practicing for the event where we are going to perform a dance number, he became closer and closer to us. I started to know more things about him. He was really nice. Every member of our crew likes him because of his attitude. He doesn’t talk too much but he obviously loves to eat. He manages to make us laugh whenever we’re talking to him. That is another thing that I really like about him. After we perform our dance, the whole crew decided to have a jamming. Outside our house, everyone sat in the ground and started talking about some stuffs. Some revealed their feelings for one of our member. It was like the greatest time for us as a crew. As the time passes, someone opened a topic about them having best friend of their opposite sex. I envy them that is why I asked them who can be my best friend then he called me “Bes” and from that moment, we became best friends. He became one of the persons who knew my family background and how miserable my life is. I really don’t expect him that he will still accept me as his best friend because my dark side. I admit that I become so insensitive or what they call bitter when it comes to my family. It is so hard for me to have a friend because of my attitude that most people don’t want but this guy never leave me. We became so close to each other. I learned more things about him. He was a second year student here at CNSC taking AB English as his course. He was always happy in front of other people but when he was all by himself, I don’t think he is really that happy. My best friend was one of kind. He was definitely a sadist. But I still want him to be my best friend. Except for dancing, he also knows how to sing and play guitar but not that much. He knows how to cook and it’s pretty good. I also knew that he has a brother older than him which is also studying here at Camarines Norte State College. His mother was so kind just like him. She was so hospitable when we first came into their house to make one of my projects for school. Yes, my best friend helped me to do my project. And he never refused to help me. I felt like I have an older brother again that I can lean on everytime I’m in need. My best friend fulfills me. He also acts like a father to me. He got angry whenever I do something wrong. He always has time for me. He cares for me and any one can see it. As we get closer to each other, he started telling me about his love life. He said that he loves a girl who is also so close to him. He calls her “bunso” while he was her “kuya”. They really look cute together. I met the girl when my best friend asks me to join him as he visits this girl on their school. He looks happy with the girl that he introduced to me. I can feel his love for her. At first, I don’t know what their status was. But as the time passes by, my best friend confessed to me that they were like what other call as “M.U.”. From that day, I feel something awkward when I’m with him. I really can’t explain it. I’m happy for him with whatever relationship he has with that girl. After few months, they become official lovers. I tried to be happy for my best friend but I can’t. Something inside me was broken after he told me that news. Their relationship did not go so well because of some reasons that is why after few days, they broke up. As his best friend, it is my duty to cheer him up whenever his down especially after their break up. Some of our friends or crew members notice something between me and my best friend. They told us that our friendship went deeper, that we were like lovers. I hope that we can be what they think of us but that is impossible. We were just best friends and I thought it will never change. He was so sweet to me. He cares for me. I want to think that he loves me more than a friend but I can’t. I don’t want to assume that every single thought of mine was real. So I just stick to the fact we were just best friends and that’s final. Until one day, he asked me if we could be together as lovers. I was shocked and very happy. I love him and never expect that he feels the same way about. I answered him “Yes”.
And I am now his girlfriend and still his best friend. We know the risks of having this relationship but we don’t give too much attention to that. Because what is important now is that we are together. Having him was one of the greatest moments in my life. Other person might also have best friend opposite to their gender but mine was different. I am really lucky to have a guy like him. A guy who can fulfill all the love and care that other person connected to me can’t give. A person I promise to treasure. He gave me happiness that others can’t. I am lucky, I really am. Having our friendship as it turns more than being friends.

He was just one year younger than me and his name was Santiago. Santiago expressed himself which I got jealous of because I was still shy on talking to people and getting to know them better. He really didn’t care what other people think and talked about things he knew or what talents he got. Till this day I still admire him for that. On those times I was a total jerk to him which I regret so much because when the years pass more and more he shuts his doors of trust in front of me. Growing up I did not have that many friends. There were a few that I talked to, but only a handful that I truly felt close to. I did, however, meet who was and still is one of my closest friends. We knew each other through first grade, and we remained close until third grade; that was the year he had to move away. I remember him leaving hitting me hard, even though I was young I was still crushed at the harsh disappearance of my friend. It wasn't until seventh grade that we reconnected. He had moved back to the Southeast Polk school district, and we happened to have the same science class. After that, we started hanging out again, and he had told me about his time away. We lived very different lives, and when he told me about…

Until one day, while I was having lunch with Seaonna, he pulled me aside and told me something I’m never supposed to tell anyone. It was the first time I had seen him show any real emotion, other than anger or depression. I don’t know why he told me, but I’m glad he did. He cried while he told me, and I held him. We sat like that for at least 10 minutes, him crying, me doing my best to comfort him. When he was done, he cursed.…
