* Theresa Metzger appeals from an order entered by the Superior Court of Clayton County granting partial summary judgment to Americredit Financial Services, Inc. on her claim for conversion based on the alleged wrongful repossession of her vehicle. Metzger contends that the superior court erred by failing to conclude that she took her vehicle free of Americredit's security interest under the special good faith purchaser rule for goods covered by a certificate of title set forth in OCGA § 11-9-337(1). The US federal legislature is bicameral, therefore it consists of the Senate and the House of Representatives, and in theory they should both be of equal power. However, in reality it is the Senate which is considered to hold the most power, although there are arguments to in favour of them having equal rights. In order to reach a balanced judgement I will consider both sides of the argument, beginning with the claim that the Senate is more powerful than the House of Representatives.…
While the states had an abundance of power, deadlocks occurred frequently in sessions of Congress because of the 9 out of 13 states needed to pass a law. Failing to create a solution, the United States suffered greatly when the Spanish stopped Southern trade on the Mississippi River. Greater in number, the Northern tradesmen were adapting and compromising while less southern states couldn’t avoid the halt in their commerce. The national government couldn’t help due to the nature of their ratification process. Each state had one vote, no matter the size, creating unnecessary tensions that were resolved when the 1787 Constitution established a House of Representative and a Senate. These two bodies allowed each state to be heard coinciding with the magnitude of population and also ignoring the size of each. In addition, the new Constitution created an Executive Branch to take away some of the dominance in the states and effectively pass laws through a system of checks and balances that benefitted America as a…
The Kansas-Nebraska Act created two new states, but they were voted upon using popular sovereignty. Rather than having them be free state and slave state by the Missouri Compromise, it was decided that the citizens would vote on it. This was known as popular sovereignty (voting on whether or not the state would be free or slave state), and people from the north and south came up to…

There are so many different hoops it will have to pass through preventing a bill from becoming a law and many opportunities for it to die. The first step for the bill to get to the capital is must be sponsored by a congress man. The wording must be very specific to be drafted alone. Second, the bill will be sent to the committee where it will either be amended and moved along or killed. It’s common for a bill to be killed at this step. If the bill is continued on to be voted and selected by the majority members. If not and it dies on the floor by means of a filibuster. An example of this process, the 2011 filibuster of American Job Act. The bill is sent to the opposite chamber to go through the whole process again. Then the bill must be taken to a conference committee in order to reach a compromise between the two chambers. They both will sign the bill. The last step is to be signed by the president. Even if a party is single sided the influence of special interest can cause divides. So many different beliefs can change a voters…
The legislative branch is the most important branch of government. It has a very elaborate process in which a bill must go through. Some aspects are more substantial than others. When a bill officially becomes a law is essential, as well as the Senate’s qualification to override the President’s decision. The complexity of the legislative lawmaking process does not undermine the importance of each step taken to create the law.…
