Right from the start of the book Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy hits you with a foreshadowing of how small you are compared to community with the example of the demolition of Arthur Dent’s house. It shows how powerless Arthur Dent is to stopping the destruction of his house and how high and mighty humans feel by controlling what gets destroyed and what does not. Earth is treated just like Arthur Dent’s house, useless and in the way for something better. The Vogans address Earth as nothing more than construction and insinuate that if they couldn’t travel light years to read the fine print of the demolishment of Earth than they are better off dead. In the Hitchhiker’s guide to save room, humans were written in as “harmless” and why shouldn’t they be? Humans were for their whole existence ignorant to the fact that there was more than just…
Appeal to Ethos and Logos, Andrew Mack’s credibility remained not well-informed, sensible, or fair since he did not provide enough knowledge of Muslims and their religion, Islam. As well as, he did not strongly attest that Islam is not a violent, but peaceful religion using statistical facts. Also, he was not fair to his opposition, because he presumed that all religions exist the same, as in they are violent and not just Islam. Which made people who are Christianity, Buddhism, and other religions feel offended. Mack wrote and publish this article for his hostile audience, because some people may agree with him, and some may disagree with him.…

Humans sometimes have to face the unfortunate reality that people die. "Space," by Kevin Brockmeier, is about a father and son who have to deal with the death of their wife and mother. Tension builds in their relationship throughout the story as they struggle with moving on from Della's death. The problem is that they are trying to move forward without losing her memory completely. Brockmeier uses light vs. dark elements, imagery, flashback stories from the past, and shifting tones seen in conversations to help develop the relationship between father and son.…
In “Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking,” Hawking discusses his vision of the universe and it’s ability to exist. In the episode, Hawking shares his knowledge on how the universe came into existence and how it managed to become what it is today. Hawking also shares the evidence that scientists, such as himself, have collected through the years.…
Postmodernist religion can be defined as any type of religion that is influenced, interpreted or shaped by postmodernism and postmodern philosophies. Postmodern religion is not an attempt to banish religion from society; rather, it is a philosophical approach to religion that considers orthodox assumptions that may reflect power differences in society rather than universal truths. A postmodern interpretation of religion emphasises the key point that religious truth is highly individualistic, subjective and resides within the individual. Science technology and efficiency would overcome many social problems. The collapse of the ‘grand-narrative’ is part of post-modernism as it is a belief system that claims universal authority, religion; science and philosophies are examples of these. They have a superior status over other belief systems and also claimed they could explain the causes of society’s problems and could therefore provide solutions. According to Jean-François Lyotard, the grand-narratives powerful attraction has been lost during the 20th century. So, science hasn’t delivered solutions, wars have devastated nations, and the world is still full of evils that the grand-narratives can’t explain or resolve. Examples of this are world wars; nuclear warfare; AIDS and global poverty. The common perspective of post-modernist religion is ‘there is a god who can’t do anything, there is a god who won’t do anything, or there isn’t a god.’ Zygmunt Bauman said post-modernity is the irretrievable loss of trust in the project of modernity and its ability to manage, enhance and fulfil human potential.…
Sixth, is there intellectual and cultural fecundity? Is this worldview (1) truly explanatory, (2) internally consistent, (3) coherent, (4) factually adequate, and (5) existentially viable, then it should inspire cultural and intellectual discovery, creativity and productivity. Just because Islam has a large following globally and has produced a great civilization, does not make this criterion true. It must not fail any of the previous tests, which it did. Cultural success cannot count decisively in its…
Are Aliens Real? Is there life on other planets? This is a question many people have considered at least once in their lifetime. According to Neil deGrasse Tyson author of “The Search for Life in the Universe,” all known cultures across all of the time have attempted to answer the question “are we alone?” According to Tyson, although Earth is the only known life in the universe there are many arguments that have been made that suggest that we are not alone (1) .…
Worldview or vision of life is framework or set of fundamental beliefs thru which we view world and our calling and future in it. Vision need not be fully articulated, may be so internalized that it goes largely unquestioned. May not be explicitly developed into a systematic conception of life. May not be theoretically deepened into a philosophy. may not even be codified into creedal form. May be greatly refined thru cultural historical development. Vision is a channel for ultimate beliefs which give direction and meaning to life. Integrative and interpretative framework by which order and disorder are judged. Standard by which reality is managed and pursued. Set of hinges on which all our everyday thinking and doing turns.…

It is one of the fastest growing religions in the West, with a 2.6 million Muslim population in American and growing, expected to double by 2030 according to USAToday and with an estimated 1.5 billion following worldwide, Islam is one of the three fastest and powerful growing religions in the west. No doubt about it that Islam is one of the most influential and authentic religions with a very illustrious and straight forward system of beliefs. The word “Islam” means submission or surrender – however, it was derived from the root word “salam” which means “peace” or “safety”. Most Muslims will be familiar with the monotheistic creed “There is no God but God, and Muhammad was his Messenger”, which every practicing Muslim must acknowledge this belief known as Shahadah. With such allegiant credo towards The Almighty/The One, better known as Allah to the Muslim community, it is a very loyal and faith based religion, with utmost respect and indebtedness to Allah.…
Islam is not only one of the three major monotheistic religions in the world today, it is also it is the fastest growing. Additionally, political conflict between Islamic groups and the West play out on the international stage like the latest of the Crusades. The message of the Prophet Mohammad has been distorted and misunderstood by those outside of Islam who see only a religion of hatred. Islam did, however, emerge in battle, conquering by force much of the Middle East and North Africa. The rapid spread of Islam, both politically and as a religion, is remarkable. It is therefore fundamental to understand Islam on its own terms, its creation and spread from the Arabian Peninsula in the Seventh century.…
