The Vacation Joshua Pedro Robert Hathaway English Comp. 1021 “Classification” The car smells of stale French Fries, the seats are uncomfortable, the air is heavy with reuse, and the driver’s eyes are drooping heavily as mile upon mile has passed before his eyes. The sun is usually setting as the tired legs wearily lift an even more tired, slumping body from what seems to be the grave of the day. The desired destination looms before the tired legs as they attempt to traverse towards the room in which they will inhabit for the duration of their stay. The idea of a perfect day on vacation has a different meaning for different generations, and the way that each different generation would spend their “perfect day” on vacation is definitely different from the others! While some thoughts of the “perfect day” are the same for all of the generations, it may be best to focus on the major differences. Three of the most generalized groupings of generations of vacationers are the grandparent-aged, the parent-aged, and the children-aged, all of which are worth mentioning and discussing. The first group of the generations are the elderly, grandparent-aged groups. This is the type of traveler that wears high socks, shorts above their belly buttons, baseball caps or sombreros, and gob on sunscreen.
