When comparing two stories, the reader might stumble upon some revelations of human nature. When comparing the book “Lord of the Flies” to the television show/comic series “The Walking Dead”, the reader can see how the ‘trapped’ characters progress in difficult situations. “Lord of the Flies” and “The Walking Dead” prove that hard times can change your beliefs and often causes people to lose their humanity. Looking closer, it is plain to see clear similarities between these two stories. These similarities even continue right down to the characters! I have found similarities between the characters Roger, from “Lord of the Flies”, and Shane, from “The Walking Dead”. Both Roger and Shane felt the pressure of the situations they were being thrown

A popular theme that echoes throughout the texts of many British authors is religion; mainly in the point of view from the Holy Bible. In most british literature, the reader can draw conclusions that the author drew insight from the stories based upon Christianity. This insight can be reflected by major characters or events that happen in the text. In the allegory “Lord of the Flies” Simon, a major character, reflects Jesus Christ because both have similar events happen to them. As similar events occur the reader can also theorize that Simon and Jesus share similar traits .…

Grey’s Anatomy, a medical drama that has been on air for the past 11 years, is my all-time favorite show. Not only is the plot of the series extremely riveting and tear-jerking, but the characters are all able to relate to an aspect of your life even through your most difficult hardships, especially the protagonist, Meredith Grey. Meredith Grey, is known for her well-roundedness not due to her ability as a surgeon (as she is the head of General Surgery), but because of her willingness to aid others when they’re in times of trouble. This is especially true when it comes to her best friends; Christina Yang, Isabella Stevens, Alex Karev, and George O’Malley; who struggle through deaths, countless failed relationships, and illnesses throughout…

In ‘Half-Lives: The Walking Dead: 400 Days, Sorcery!, and Depression Quest,’ by Tevis Thompson, the connection between video game characters and players on a metacognitive level is described. Thompson explores this connection through several games of different genres, stories, and gameplay. He says that games, in order to really connect on an empathetic level with their players, need to force the players to live the lives of others and face the consequences of lasting choices the player must make. He praises games like ‘The Walking Dead,’ (specifically its ‘400 Days’ episode), because it requires the player to live the life of someone other than themselves, possibly the life of someone completely unlike themselves, and to create outcomes dependent…

With all society broken down, hope of rescue uncertain, those attending that particular University, both student and faculty, must band together to successfully survive this otherworldly ordeal.
