Millman states that the main purpose of meditation is “to expand awareness, to direct attention, to ultimately surrender to the light of consciousness” (Millman 97). Clearing our minds of negativity can help us get through adversities. Meditation has positive effects on the physical and mental well-being; however, “the benefits do not represent the significance of meditation. Ultimately, the purest ‘reason’ to meditate has nothing to do with getting anywhere or achieving anything. We do it because it forms a natural part of the peaceful warrior’s approach to daily life” (Millman, No Ordinary Moments 46). Dan’s character depicts the strength we all have within ourselves when we choose control our response to difficult situations, and get through the daily challenges that life may present
