The theme of the book was perseverance, to keep pushing through everything that happens. When Francis was captured by the Indians he fought to get out and he didn’t quit. Francis is like this throughout the whole book. He constantly keeps going. Mr. Grimes “raised” Francis for a short time and mentored him and taught him how to respect the land and live off of it.…

The main idea throughout the book is capitalism. His book strives to show harsh implications of capitalism by showing these people being victimized by the higher power. They need a new movement like, socialism to save them from the dangers of the free-market. The argument being made by Sinclair is that capitalism is crushing this family's dream because of the fact that these industries run by private owners for profit do not care for what their works have to endure as long as their income is coming in they are fine. Jurgis sees coworkers drop dead and everyone continues to work for a buck they all so desperately need. He supports this argument by showing the struggles everyone in this family goes through from almost being rapped to dropping dead. The thesis for The Jungle is written to show that help was needed through social justice, by showing their workers should be cared for because they are human and just as important as the money they were making for the ones on top. It has illustrated the harm of capitalism, where only a few that migrate can successfully live out their American Dream. Sinclair's writing style is informal because of the fact that his is very descriptive with his words and simplifies them. He is setting a personal tone, connecting to the book and is having a conversation within it. The quality of his writing…

Permoser depicted torment in a manner that is overtly torturous or painful. He also presents themes of torment through ridicule and comedy, seen in the set The Four Seasons, made in 1685 in ivory for the Green Vault in Dresden. The Green Vault was one of Augustus the Strong’s main projects, evolving into an artistic center, featuring many of Permoser’s works. Permoser’s use of mockery is his subtle way of weaving his own style with his patrons, Augustus the Strong. These ivory mythological characters each embody a specific season: Flora for spring, Ceres for summer, Bacchus for autumn, Vulcan for winter.…

The lion represents royalty, majesty, power, strength, bravery, and ferocity. They included so many of them because they represent the 3 areas that were associated with the British crown; England, Norway, and Aquitaine.…
In today’s society, almost all people are seen the same way, people have faults about them and have different traits, but all are considered human, men and woman are able to hold the same positions and jobs, and people of all races are able to live together in society. Frederick Douglass was born, and raised, a slave in the 1800s; life was very different, African Americans and white Americans were not seen as equals. As a young boy, Douglass was sent to Baltimore where he learned to read and write. By learning to read and write, Douglass knew the difference between slavery and freedom was literacy. After this crucial time in his life, Douglass was determined to become a free man, no matter what it took. Frederick Douglass utilizes the motif of animals in order to shed light on the life of slaves and the dehumanizing effects of slavery.…
Family members may get into occasional disagreements, but at the end of the day they are supposed to look out for and protect one another. However, when a fight between family members stubbornly drags on, it can cause major conflicts within the family. In Amy Chua’s Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mom and Amy Tan’s The Joy Luck Club, the author tackles the topic of mother-daughter relationships. However, both of the author’s perspectives on the relationships differ from one another. In Amy Chua’s work, the chapter portrays a patient and serene relationship between the mother and daughter. Contrary to that, in Amy Tan’s work, there is a strained and hostile relationship within the passage.…

In the novel Life of Pi by Yann Martel, there are three themes that seem to overpower throughout; religion, fear, and hope. When the main character in the novel, Pi, is forced to move the family's zoo from Pondicherry India to Canada in search for a better life, their boat suddenly begins to sink in the middle of the pacific ocean. Miraculously Pi is the only human that survives. But unfortunately for this poor boy he is stuck on a 26 foot lifeboat with a zebra, an orangutan, a hyena, and a three year old bengal tiger named Richard Parker. The themes religion, fear, and hope are repeatedly stressed to try to get the reader to greater grasp the concepts of what Pi was going through while stranded on a lifeboat for 227 days. These three themes are also the driving forces that strive and help Pi to fight for his survival even when there are no signs of success..…
Ashunasipal II was one of the great, if not the greatest, king of Assyria and ruled…
I think that the theme translated from the book to the movie. The theme that is consistent among the two is responsibility is important. The children in both the movie and the book realize that they can have fun but there are consequences for the trouble-making fun. The cat shows them that responsibility is important and that we need to do things like keeping the house clean to keep (in this case) the mother happy.…
Echoes of biblical stories tantalise the reader with doubts and memories: ‘God so loved the world that he…’ gave His only begotten Son (St John 3.16)? — No — ‘. . . that he took monkey’s flesh upon him’. There are references to the ‘Ark of the Lord’ (see, for example, I Kings 2.26), to the ‘Despised and Rejected’ (see Isaiah 53.3);sorrow is annihilated (see Isaiah 35.10); the freeing of prisoners takes place. The hope brought to men by the Birth ceremony is thus for all men and, together with the abundant rains, it contains a promise for the future, again opening the novel on? expanding it rather than seeking completion.…
