An Analysis of the Twin Brothers’ Motives in “The World on the Turtle’s Back” In “The World on the Turtle’s Back”, the right-handed twin is portrayed as the benevolent “Master of Life” (200) and the left-handed twin is seen as the devious one. In my opinion, the left-handed twin is not the antagonist of the story. The hatred towards the left-handed twin initiated when he killed his mother at birth. “He said he saw light in another direction, and said he would be born that way” (89). His own instinct told him to do that, the left-handed twin did not intend to murder his own mother in the process. One could say he was born bad, it was in his nature.
