The comparisons and contrast between “Theme for English B” and my experiences in my English class are both experiences having to write a diagnostic essay and not having that many colored people in a classroom and Hughes being one of the few colored people in his classroom, while in my point of view, I am one of the many whites in my classroom. One of the similarities between “Theme for English B” and my own personal experience is writing an essay in class on the beginning of English B. Another similarity of the poem and my own experience in college is that they both have a few colored people in a classroom filled with white people. The difference between Hughes’ and my personal experience with English class and school in general is that he is a colored man in a classroom filled with whites; however, in my classroom, I am one of the many whites with a few colored people. Langston Hughes’ experience is similar and different to my experience in college even though they are both fifty years
