I also think that Dashner was trying to get across to the reader the theme of bravery. In our story, bravery was something that the characters really needed in order to live the way they wanted. At numerous times in the book Thomas must call on his own will to overcome a frightening situation. “Two nurses- man and woman- were dragging a girl with brown hair down the hallways, and she was kicking and screaming the whole way. It was her. The girl from room 31K. Teresa. There was no sense in what Thomas did next. He ran after her ‘Let her go!’ He yelled. He picked up the speed, already realizing that the entire thing was a lost cause. At least he would show Teresa that he tried.” (The Fever Code, pg. 44) It is also bravery and the love
