Context: Banquo leaves Macbeth very scared and worried about his son’s becoming king and not Macbeth’s. Macbeth is very scared that if the prophecy is true than his son’s will not be able to rule Scotland.

Macbeth is told that Macduff has fled to England and Macbeth is worried that he will plan to do something against him. He decided that when he has plans he will act immediately. “I’ll raid Macduff’s castle, seize the town of Fife, and kill his wife, his children, and anyone else unfortunate enough to stand in line for his inheritance. No more foolish talk” (4.1.156-159). Macbeth is planning to kill all of Macduff’s family to show him that no one should mess with him. Macbeth is resorting to murder in order to keep his power and to get rid of the person who is potentially planning to overthrow him. The aggression in Macbeth’s attitude is proposing that Macbeth will turn to any action to grow his ambition. Aggression can lead people to commit acts that in there normal sense they would not go through with.
