I am Kaitlyn Luepann and I am portraying the fairy attendants Peaseblossom, Bottom, Cobweb, and the “jester fairy” Puck From William Shakespeare’s play, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” I will be portraying all these characters as one character with characteristics of all four. The ways I am going to adapt the characters that I am portraying are for me to have a witty sense of humour, yet have common courtesy and manners, and have respectful body language and a humourous tone of voice because the three fairy attendants are very respectful, but Puck is humourous. How I adapt all of the fairies body language and tone of voice from the play to the modern day is to be a respectful Starbucks worker, who cracks jokes in a funny manner while customers…
have you ever been in love, the little feeling you get for someone but you tried but u never succeeded in convincing them into loving you too? In shakespeare they present a theme.A theme is a message that they try to explain in the reading but don't show it. The theme in A Midsummer night's dream by william shakespeare is control. In A Midsummer night's dream there are two character that show control. One of the character that try to control demetrius is helena she loves demetrius but demetrius love hermia. another character is demetrius he passioned hermia but hermia charised lysander.…
In Shakespeare's play, A Midsummer Night's Dream, I learned that relationships are tested in situations with drastic outcomes. For example, a scene occurs where Egeus is angry at his daughter Hermia for wanting to marry someone without his consent (22). Egeus then threatens to kill Hermia if she didn't marry Demetrius, the man he gave his consent to. This relates back to the theme because Egeus put his father-daughter relationship on the line so he could get his way. As Egeus said "As she is mine I may dispose of her," meaning he is willing to let his daughter die rather than allow her to marry freely. Another example of this theme occurring is when Helena accuses Hermia of partaking in a prank where Hermia's lovers taunt her (106-107). Helena…
As Helena says, "Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind" (1.1.234) whereas in the play, most of the relationships of love is seen with the eyes rather than their minds. The characters don’t realize what reason they are falling in love with and only see what they want to see. William Shakespeare writes and demonstrates the effect of love through the character's eyes in his play A Midsummer Night's Dream. Shakespeare establishes the illusion of love through the relationships between Lysander & Hermia, Demetrius & Helena, and Bottom & Titania.…
Family, when you think about it, has a very open-ended definition. For some it is easy to describe as they say it's their parents and siblings, but for others it's there close friends, and yet some believe there is no such existence of people being bonded close enough to be a family. Whichever way you perceive family though, you can see dynamics that structure how a family functions and interacts. In The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet two very different families contrast each other in the Okabes and the Lees. It is even seen how family dynamics transcend generations as Henry and his son Marty interact.…
A Midsummer Night Dream is a play written by the late William Shakespeare. This play is about a love triangle how one loves the other when the other does not like them until finally it all ends in a resolution, as they have a secret fairy world looking over at them, this play is almost like a mix between the fantasy world and the real! Bottom is one of the characters in this play, and in this play Bottom is a humorous and confident character, although being intelligent in other fields Bottom is not a very clever or educated man. Bottom and his fellow workmates are named the “rude mechanicals”, unsophisticated men but rather great tradesmen, working not with the mind but with the hands, though Bottom may be labeled a “rude mechanical” in many…
Shakespeare has conveyed the subject of family through the two families, the Capulets and the Montagues. A family feud which has every member of each family looking for revenge on the other family in the town fair…
The Plantagenets are the perfect example of a dysfunctional family and the more you read into the play the more it is shown. Firstly the roots to a happy and healthy family are from the relationship with the parents and in no case does Henry and Eleanor have a healthy relationship. With Eleanor being sent away for several years Henry chose apon himself to have a mistress whom is Alais, in which is the girl that him and Eleanor rose since she was a child. With Henry having a mistress it causes many complications, and angers Eleanor even more. With the two parents having an unhealthy relationship it causes a burden on the children and the lifestyle that they pick up to live by for when they are grown up. Eleanor and Henry disagree a lot also…
Have you ever wondered what is behind fate? A force that is certainly not human, that is for sure. If this power is not human what can it possibly be? Mostly fairies and gods are the source of our fate. For example, Puck and Oberon in a Midsummer Night's Dream are just a few of the influences behind fate. Since Puck and Oberon are not human their ways on interference are certainly powers of fate. The duo are not human, they work in mysterious ways, and are interfering only for the good of the mortals involved, so it can be stated that they are the forces behind fate.…
Social grouping is a fundamental element in our civilization or society. A social group is a collection of people who interact with each other and share the same interests and characteristics. Therefore, all members of a society are part of a social group whether it is as women, teenagers, immigrants, families or church members. To be considered a non-member of any social group one has to live in complete isolation from society.…
Analysis in A Midsummer Night's Dream “O, I am out of breath in this fond chase!” (Act 2 vs.81)…
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a play written by the world famous Shakespeare. Although, it was originally written as a play to perform, adaptations have came along and made various movies and books. Since these adaptations have been made their information is very much alike the original play by Shakespeare but very different all at the same time. I will be comparing and contrasting the play written by Shakespeare hundreds of years ago to the the movie, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, made in 1999 directed by Michael Hoffman.…
There is in fact a difference between knowing and understanding an idea or a concept. Based on the monologue delivered in act 1 of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Lysander evidently has a positive outlook on love and will therefore be a good husband to Hermia. Lysander proves this by using imagery, comparisons, and euphony to demonstrate his understanding of the nature of love. Because of his deep knowledge of the way love works, he will be a caring and compassionate husband to Hermia.…
It is evident that in A Midsummer Nights Dream gender conflict is not the only source of comic disorder in the exposition of the play. This can be seen due to the number of other events and scenes which are sources of comic disorder such as character relationships, stereotypes & status and authoritative conflicts.…
Family to us means a husband, wife, or children, however in the story of Romeo and Juliet, family serves a greater purpose as it is a key theme in the play. Family in Romeo and Juliet at first appears to be between to bloodlines, but it is evident that in the play, relations between unrelated people can be stronger than blood relations. When Romeo slaughters Tybalt in retaliation for killing his friend Mercutio, it is Mercutio’s relations with romeo and the prince, that allows romeo to have a lighter sentence when he kills tybalt. Throughout the play Juliet’s main maternal figure is her nurse not biological mother, the latter of whom has an almost non existent relationship to Juliet. This is evident in the mother mistaking Juliet's distress…
