Theme Of Greed In The Crucible
Arthur Miller shows how greed can be both good and bad. In the book The Crucible Abigail Williams and Judge Hathorne Is a bad example of greed and John Proctor is a good example of greed. Abigail’s Greed almost broke up John Proctor and Elizabeth Proctor’s Marriage, she also faked that she saw spirits and that they were attacking her. Her greed cost many people their lives.
Abigail Williams was a greedy young girl, she wanted John Proctor all to herself and she was willing to do anything to take Elizabeth Proctor’s place including accusing her of being a witch. After she saw Mary make a pop-it for Elizabeth and stick the needle in the stomach of the pop-it she stuck herself in the same place as it was in the doll and claimed Elizabeth’s

    She was then taken in by Reverend Parris, her uncle, and was able to find employment in the Proctor household, which led to the development of the conflict in The Crucible. The build up of experiences, from the murder of her parents up until the first act probably led her to the current disposition she is in during the play.
