Theme Of The Treasure Of Lemon Brown

What do you think the theme is for ‘The Treasure of Lemon Brown?’ This story is about Greg meeting Lemon Brown, and learning what Lemon’s treasure is. I think that the theme of this story is to respect your father more and understand their perspective. Reading this story, I realized many clues that led Greg to finally understand why his father is so strict on him. Greg’s meeting with Lemon Brown probably gave him a new perspective to his life.

The first clue why I think that the theme to this story is to understand your father more, is because when Lemon Brown starts talking about his son, he realizes it is really important to respect their fathers. Greg realizes that even though their is a child’s perspective, there is also a parent’s perspective. After all, Lemon Brown’s son is dead, so he cannot do anything for his father, but Greg still can. He realizes that he needs to start respecting his father more.
That is really the reason why I understood that the theme of the story is to respect, and understand their fathers more, because even though they sometimes are strict, they still do the best for their children. This is where I thought Greg started understanding about his father’s perspective
