Theme #2: Fighting for justice to provide her brother with a proper burial, Antigone tries to use her determination as another factor to end her life. Creon scorns Antigone because he thinks she is spitefully disobeying him by glorifying her actions. Little does he know that all the citizens of Thebes are proud of Antigone for standing up for her brother because the rest of them are to afraid of the consequences to do so. She knows a decree has been send out against her brothers burial but decided to speak the truth to Creon saying, “ What greater glory could I win/ than to give my own brother decent burial?/ These citizens here would all agree,/ they would praise me too/ if their lips weren't locked in fear” (560-65).
