Then Again, Maybe I Won T By Judy Blume
Then Again, Maybe I Won’t by Judy Blume. This book is about adolescence and the problems, confusion and difficulties that we all go through in some sort of way during these ages. The fear of the main character and how he is unable to speak out and do what he wants is best how I related to this book when I was young. I was very quiet and withdrawn with my own fears and thoughts to contend with. This book showed me that I was not the only one, that other people also felt and had to deal with situations as I did.
The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. This book has several important lessons. The idea of giving rather than receiving and how it makes you a better person in so many ways is what I took away from this book. It helped me to see that

White. The story of this little mouse is one of persistence, hope, conflict and overcoming all obstacles. This book is influential in my life as it gave me the idea that no matter the odds, no matter the obstacles, you can overcome and succeed in your goals and dreams. I was inspirational and was a characteristic that I believe I now have, and this book was one of the reasons that this became instilled in me.
Oh, the Thinks You Can Think by Dr. Seuss. This book is about imagination, reality, art, and what your mind can envision. Dr. Seuss influenced my growth quite a bit with his many books, but this one I think gave me more of a whimsical and open mindedness way of seeing things. It taught me that you do not have to follow the norm, or fit in with society or groups. It is ok to be different and see things differently. This is a trait that I think makes me able to see the world and ideas from different perspectives
Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. Max is a boy who decides to run away, and go to another land where monsters are that is far from home. He proclaims himself King and has a grand time with his new found friends. Max does get lonely and decides to go back home where there are those that love him. This book influenced me in realizing that the grass is not always greener on the other side. My childhood was full of turmoil. This book helped me to learn that you can’t run from your problems. That you must face them. That is the only way to overcome them and move

    Educating Esme Summary

The book I chose was Educating Esme: Diary of a Teacher’s First Year by Esme Raji Codell. I chose this book because I honestly judged it from the title on the book review assignment page and found this to possibly be something that might help me in my journey into becoming a teacher. I found this book to very amusing and very touching. I thought that Esme's attitude and writing style was funny and easy to read and understand. One of my favorite stories in the book is the one when Esme made Billy Williams teach the class for a day because he was misbehaving. Esme threatened suspension to Billy for cursing and being disrespectful, so he accepted the punishment of teaching the class for the day instead of suspension. I thought it was great that he was able to mimic and recite specific lines that Esme used even though he didn’t always seem…

Michael Gerard Bauer dealt with a topic that relates to the age group I’m in now. “Don’t Call Me Ishmael” was written about teen hood: Bullying, coping, low self esteem, self consciousness, the list could go on and St Daniels College is the place where it all happens. Ishmael is a fourteen year old boy who goes through the problems that I see teens face every day. His mates are nonetheless social outcasts themselves. All the characters in Bauer’s book deals with their own individual problems.…

This theme of power is also shown in the mouse, as the fact that Steinbeck shows the mouse already dead before it's found foreshadows Curley's wife being dead before she was found. The mouse symbolises the lack of hope and ambition felt by Curley's wife; her repetitive daily routine representing all the powerless women during the 1930's. It displays how women during that time had nothing to work towards or aim for, and as a result desperately sought attention and hence settling attentively for the ears of a stranger. The symbolised mouse also explains to the reader the theme of power and powerlessness, felt by most of the characters on the…

The last three lines of the poem to me are the most powerful. "That stupid fire couldn't take all of them. Nothing could do that. Nothing", to me it narrator being vulnerable and I believe the narrator for a second lets down that wall he or she has built from the loss of his or her parents (Woodson). The narrator wants to be strong when talking about the loss of his or her parent and he or she may still believe that their parents are not gone, but in the end of the poem the narrator does show the reader that he or she does feel a sense of his or her parents not being there. It is as if the narrator is reminding his or her that nothing can take their parents away completely, but at the same time they have to deal with the fact that part of…

An essay that influenced me the most is Strange Tools by Richard Rodriguez. It is a literacy narrative about a boy being introduced to the world of literature and how it progressed and changed his life. The thesis of Strange Tools is simply to open your heart and mind into anything because it could benefit you in miraculous ways, in this case that is reading. Another reason why Strange Tools influenced me, is because I can compare myself to Richard Hoggart, a boy that had no idea where books can lead them.…
