There Is A Way To Be Good Again Analysis
“There is a way to be good again.” This is a lesson that I personally learned from The Kite Runner, and I truly believe it to be true. In the book, Amir went through his whole life feeling guilty about all of the wrong and cruel things he did to his friend Hassan. When Rahim Khan called Amir and told him that he could in fact be good again, Amir went out of his way (to another country) to fix what he had done. This is a lesson that we can all apply to our lives in more ways than one. Everybody has something to feel guilty about. This can be something as small as turning in a paper or assignment late to something as big as murdering someone (although hopefully this is not as common). Things like this can bring us so much guilt all throughout our lives, and we just want to feel like we have gotten the punishment we deserve …show more content…
This is the struggle for most people. Although Amir did not experience this because Hassan forgave him and was still a good friend to him, we face it whenever we do something wrong to someone that we care about. The other end of the spectrum is that the person we have wronged will forgive us, but we feel so guilty that we push them away. This was the situation for Amir and Hassan, and it is actually very sad. Of course we do not want to lose someone that we care about. However, we do not understand how they can forgive us, and every time we are around them we seem to think of what happened.
Overall, the theme of “there is a way to be good again” relates to everyone. It is something that most people will face in their life, so it is a nice lesson to learn early on. Everyone needs to know that they cannot punish themselves forever, and there is a way to make up for the bad things in life. The Kite Runner gives us these lessons. Everybody should take these lessons to heart because they will help at some point in

“Do good and good will come to you”. This is a quote that to me is true. There is someone that learned the real value of good and life lessons, a young boy from minneapolis. This character is from the book Touching spirit bear by Ben Mikaelsen. Cole learned many life lessons, he learned how to behave, and most importantly he learned how to control his anger.…

As I said before that the others wanted to give a message throughout the entire book to explain to people that we are all one of a kind and never try to be like someone else because there is only one of them and one of you. No one can do better than the next person because we all have something different to offer and we only improve ourselves more when we are just ourselves. Basically no one is like the other so why try to be better at what someone does better when all they’re doing is being their own being. Fear is also mentioned in this book and they tackle this throughout the book as well saying that fear is seen as a negative feature of people, but should really be used as an “engine starter.” That is mostly why this book inspires me not just entertains me.…

From not cleaning your room after your parents have told you for the thousandth time, or just telling a little white lie. The way we deal with this guilt is through redemption. Either telling the truth about not cleaning your room and then cleaning your room plus the bathroom or just doing something that makes up for the cause of guilt. Throughout The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini, there is a theme of betrayal and redemption. This is mostly shown through the main characters Amir and his father, Baba. Amir is living with the guilt of what he did to Hassan in the winter of 1975 while Baba is living with the guilt of not being able to acknowledge Hassan as…

For example, Stanley Williams directly and indirectly takes away many people’s life by founding the gang, and organizing and participating criminal activities. Nevertheless, he pays back to the society by writing children’s books to prevent youths from joining gangs. He uses his personal experience to show youths the consequences of impulse, saving countless number of youths’ life. In this way, Williams atones his sin, because the lives he saved can match the lives he took away. In The Kite Runner, Amir’s atonement is more symbolic. After Amir risks his life for Sohrab, he gets a fight with Assef that he deserves long ago, and a harelip as a result. The harelip symbolizes the disappearance of Amir’s cowardice, because he can finally fight like Hassan, his harelipped brother. Many years after Amir rescues Sohrab from Afghanistan, he runs a kite for Sohrab, wanting to gain his trust by saying “for you, a thousand times over”(391), a sentence Hassan always says to him. At this moment, the loyalty and friendship shown by the sentence has transferred from Hassan to Amir, symbolizes Amir finally wins back Hassan’s friendship, and passes it onto Sohrab. Therefore, Amir completes his atonement by saving Sohrab’s life, and passing on the loyalty and friendship to Sohrab, which matches his past sins: cowardice and…

In many religious scriptures, redemption is mentioned repeatedly. Especially in the Quran, the book of the Muslims, redemption is described as an everlasting occurrence. In the Kite Runner, Amir feels responsible for the death of his mother. He believes that he owes his father something for being the cause of his great wife’s death. Baba says, “When you kill a man, you steal a life. You steal his wife’s right to a husband; rob his children of a father” (Hosseini, 19). This shows the rigidity of his father when it comes to death. Allah says in the Quran, “Of no effect is the repentance of those who continue to do evil” (Quran 4:18). The explanation of this can be that one who repents; who seeks redemption and continues to do evil is not forgiven. This shows that forgiveness is not easy to achieve, especially in Amir’s case. In closing, one can seek redemption but that path is a very long and narrow pathway.…

From a Christian perspective, guilt is the feeling that we get when we know we have failed in obeying the commandments of God, or that we have acted in ways contrary to what we believe is right. The Baker's Theological Dictionary of the Bible (2000) emphasizes a positive aspect of guilt, according to the author, guilt can be beneficial in the following manners: “A deep feeling of guilt, even if caused by oppressive parenting, can yet have positive effect in deepening our appreciation of our failures before God and the debt of obedience that we owe.” (Elwell, 2000 p.319)…

Forgiveness is a necessary part of human existence, although it is rarely easy to give, and sometimes hardest to give to ourselves. The Kite Runner illustrates humanity's tendency, and even willingness, to dwell on past mistakes. The opening sentence sets this theme with "I became what I am today at the age of twelve," as Amir unapologetically relates how he believes one action at that young age defined his entire life. However, as the novel progresses, the reader comes to the conclusion that it was not one action, but a series of choices and events that created Amir's persona as an adult. By holding onto his guilt and fear of discovery, Amir could only bury his past for short periods of time before his own conscience uncovered it and the emotional baggage attached. Throughout the course of Amir's life, he made choices based on jealousy, fear, and guilt, and thus allowed his life to be immersed in regret and shame until he finally allowed himself redemption.…

No one just decides they want forgiveness from someone, they do something they wish they could take back then realize what they have done is wrong. Amir for example has a long list of things he dose wrong. Not only dose he do wrong, he dose these things to his best friend, Hassan. While Amir knows he much smarted that Hassan he uses that as an advantage by teasing him about the meaning of words when he is reading to him. Small things like that happen everyday but some actions are so terrible they will haunt you for the rest of your life. Amir’s experience with this happening to him is when he witnessed Hassan being raped and did absolutely nothing to help him or tell anyone about the incident. “I had one last chance to make a final decision. One final opportunity to decide who I was going to be… In the end I ran” (Hosseini 77) Here Amir tells him self that he can do what is right and save Hasssan but instead chooses to run, a decision that he will regret for almost the rest of his life. Amir isn’t the type of person that can just let something like this go, he thinks about it every minute of everyday and he cant just tell someone or talk to Hassan about it. He has his own way of dealing with his problem.…

You must also be able to forgive others, to realize that they also make mistakes. For 1 Peter 3:9 states “Do no repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.” When I was in the accident, I was sure that no one would be able to, would want to forgive me. However, in going to therapy and talking to my support system, I have come to realize that this one incident, this one mistake that I made, does not define me. It does not change others’ opinions of me, it does not affect the type of person that I am, it does not make me a worse person. It will affect me for the rest of my life, but it will not define the rest of my life. Through this trial, I have realized love is stronger than blame, and forgiving loved ones is possible.…
