A writer may write for several reasons, but one of the main reasons a writer composes an essay is to clarify for a particular audience his/her answer to a specific critical question about the world around him/her. A thesis statement—which is essentially a relatively succinct answer to a critical question—aids in this communicative process by helping an audience understand what question the writer is asking, why that question is important, and how the writer has responded to that question.…

The genre has existed in some form or another since the early years of television, began in earnest as a television formula in the 1990s, and exploded as a global phenomenon around 1999-2000, via series such as Big Brother and Survivor.…

An Overseas Filipino Worker is a Filipino who is employed in work outside the Philippines. They are Filipinos working abroad that are expected to return permanently either upon the expiration of a work contract or upon retirement. The term OFWs was officially adopted under the President Fidel V. Ramos Administration to give recognition to millions of Filipinos who sacrifice by working in other countries. A former economics professor, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, the 10th President of the Philippines, applied the term Overseas Filipino Investor or OFI for Filipino expatriates who contribute to the economy through remittances, buying properties and creating businesses. As a result of this migration, many countries have substantial Filipino communities. The impact of migration varies – ranging from economic benefits not only for the family but the country in general through its remittances to the security and well-being of the family of migrants. But a major concern here is the social costs of migration, specifically, to the children left behind . Many say that working abroad gives them better job opportunities which helps them provide the needs of their family who have been left for months or even years. OFWs usually come home during the Christmas holiday or as permitted in their contract in order to spend this special holiday with their love ones, since Filipinos are known to be a family-centered society.…
