CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study
Competent leaders come from competent students. Future leaders of country should possess the skills that will suit the needs of one’s nation. In this way, the country’s goals and perspectives can be easily achieved. Through careful practices, learners’ actions are being improved which is one of the factors in having a progressive and well-literate society.
Extracurricular activities play a vital role in the educational attainment of the students in the society. Together with the academic activities, students’ knowledge and skills are enhanced. More Filipinos are getting skilled and more efficient in their proposed jobs and improved practices are applied by the learners not only in the school but also in their daily activities.
School exercises help students gain experience in the variety of areas that will enhance their own personality. Through their participation in sports, theater arts, clubs and organizations, students learn cooperation, teamwork and time management. It can help students discover their hidden talents and learn about things outside their own environment. It also enhances the skills of a person and makes him improved his own personality especially his physical aspects. Students who are involved in extracurricular activities are more likely to become leaders, more willing to complete tasks and voice opinions. It is also a way to make their social, political, and career interests go further and better.1 As a whole, extracurricular activities have a great part and contribution to the performance of one’s country. It is one of the instruments in amending the future builders of one’s native land and in sustaining the consistency of his society.1 Studying and indulging in extracurricular activities are both tiring activities. These motions need extra-effort among students. Both of these give benefits to learners that could be very helpful in working their daily enterprise. These two variables
