Although there are others are serious subjects in music today this is about the sexualization of women through music. Popular music today and music videos and included have a strong influence on sex. In music videos women can be seen dancing around half naked, in the many examples the one I will use is a music video of Future and his song Wicked . Also in popular music today female artist are doing the same thing to themselves. Women in the music industry today are sexualizing themselves by singing about spending the night with their man or going around to find a man to take home. An example of this would be in the music video from Fifth Harmony Work from home. This brings up the subject that how is it okay that female artist are sexualizing themselves through music but if a man does it, it is looked down upon as a bad thing of society. Yes some things that are said in music can be very explicit in some cases but regardless of how controversial opinions on the subject of music and sexualization is that men and women both create sexualization on the female body through music. Even in the music categories that aren’t as popular as rap and pop which is popular to the younger generations , for older generations or to a group of people that prefer a different category such as country where there is a song by Whitney Duncan called Skinny Dippin. There are two sides to this subject. Which one group may say that that it is letting women express themselves in the way they want. Allowing a group of people and in this case females to express their individual taste with the clothes they want is a good thing. On the other side it can be seen as a negative way because some would say that popular womens clothes today in age can be provocative or too revealing in cases. For example at some high schools of they don’t have a dress code or if they have a dress down day some schools are not allowing females to wear leggings because it is too provocative towards men. Schools that would have this in place would be Butler Traditional High School that does have a dress code but occasionally has dress down days and Bullitt Central High school that does not have a dress code but in the 2019-2017 school year administration banned leggings.. The internet is one of the most powerful ways of communicating ideas and information. By being on of the most powerful ways to communicate that makes it one of the easiest ways to create , in this case, sexualization of the female body.
The internet is an unfathomably large place with billions and billions ideas pictures and many ways of sharing information. So when a picture that one person posted can be reached by millions of people and shared to increase
